Hey everyone. I have a Tikka that has a pretapped receiver for bases and what not. Anyways i'm reaching out to any other tikka owners out there. I just purchased a picatinny base for it (U S Optics). I am concerned about the solid hold it will have on my tikka because the tapped holes in my tikka go straight through. And i'm worried if i tighten the screws too much it will hit and stratch my bolt. but if i don't tighten enough it will become loose. And information thoughts on this?

The screws shouldn't come through, but if they do, just grind them down and re-install.

Loctite, and you're gold! I have Leupold bases on my Tikka, and never had an issue with them coming loose at all.

well i just got an email from where i ordered them and they can't send them to canada. Looking for top of the line 1 piece picatinny for a tikka m595. Anyone have any suggestions? or should i just go out and buy the tikka mounts?

EGW (Evolution Gun Works) makes 0 and 20MOA rails for the Tikka T3's... not sure if the 595 is the same. Allen Gun Works (on here) sells them.

Unless you're looking at a big calibre rifle, the Tikka Optilocks are overkill (IMHO).

well right now the 20moa rails i might be getting through a canadian dealer are about $130, although u say the tikka optilocks are overkill. would they be stronger and cheaper then that route then? I'm only shooting a 308

Personally, I use the Leupold bases and rings. Plenty strong, and a well-tested setup. You don't really NEED a rail if you have dedicated optics. Nice to be able to remove scope for cleaning rifle, etc., but not required.

The Optilocks ARE built like tanks and they are nice. However, they are heavy and expensive.

Talley Lightweights are supposed to be good as well.

right now i have a 30mm leupold mark 4 M1 16x and they have a solid rings on them right now. So i didn't know if i wanted to just get the picatinny rail since the rings i have on the scope are solid. Or if i wanted to just get these optilocks

GET THE RAIL!!! If you already have rings that will fit a rail, no point in buying new ones.

Just my opinion, but since you're 'half way there', might as well go the rest! Rail my friend. Rail.

So far so good. Now my only concern is if i can get this rail i want. I`m looking for a 1 piece but the only supplier i can find that builds those is U S optics. I`m disappointed that nightforce doesn`t. but what can you do. If i can`t get the US optics one. Any recommendations of what brand to get a picatinny rail from.

I am sure Near Manufacturing could make you up a base if you have the measurements. EGW are nice but not the quality of US Optics, Nightforce or Near.

i should mention i use my rifle for long range target shooting. So i need to stress on quality of the rail so it doesn`t shimmy what so ever

thanks guys, you've helped out alot. I'm going to contact this Near. How long did it take for him to make you guys one?
