I've heard that T3 lite rifles with synthetic stocks recoil quite a bit. Does anyone have any experience? I'm considering a 300 win mag.

Thanks

I had a 300wm in a t3 for years, im light framed and boney shouldered, it was no fun to shoot and was causing a flinch. I had a break installed and helped a lot with the recoil.

I've fired two Tikkas chambered in 300wsm. One of them was the lite with skinny barrel and lightweight synthetic stock. Belonged to a friend. three shots, handed it back. no thank you. felt like I was getting kicked by a goat. very sharp punch into the shoulder.

My tikka, almost three times the weight (~ 18 lbs with bipod and scope), with a 28" heavy custom barrel with brake in a custom fiberglass filled stock, and much larger recoil pad, you feel less recoil than a typical 308.

The stock tikkas are great pack guns, beautiful, accurate, carry light, but you don't want to be shooting them all that much.

If you plan on shooting more then a mag a year, you will not like it.
Too light for this caliber. I’m a lightweight, and don’t enjoy the recoil My 2 cents

i had been shooting a Winchester M70 in 300wm. i put a good recoil pad on it and it was better but still not a lot of fun to shoot.
i picked up a Tikka T3 roughtec in 300WM with a factor muzzle break on it. got out this weekend finally.
what a difference the break makes. wow it was a pleasure to shoot .

There are a few options: muzzle-brake, re-barrel to a heavy barrel, install a recoil reducer in the rear stock. BTW, any option will cost money.;)

There was a stainless tupperware T3 300 Win that someone in our circle got cheap and it got passed around a lot. Nobody liked shooting it much; though most could without claiming a near death experience. Bear in mind there's some hardened shooters in the bunch.

Had the same thing in 300 WSM but with a limbsaver pad. It was quite easy to shoot, partly because it chronographed like a fast 30-06. I got it cheap (260 bucks with a cheap scope) and sold it cheap to a friend who gave it to his kid. He's still using it as far as I know.

My 338 tikka lite with irons booted as much or more than most big bores or ultra mags I’ve fired

“ how’s the recoil “

“ great, there’s tons of it”

I saw some Tikka T3x equipped already with a muzzle break. Probably the way to go with a light rifle. I have a Mod 70 in 300 WM. The barrel is 26 in and the recoil still significant.

i have a t3 in 7mag and 300 wsm they are just fine with a better pad. also used to have a 338 mag t3 and found to be manageable but a tad uncomfortable from a bench. for hunting it was fine.

Depends on how recoil sensitive you are as well.
I have one in 300wsm . I put limbsaver recoil pad on
Mine. It’s not bad to shoot at all imo.

I replaced mine with a Sako A7, and it's pretty much the same gun. Mine is in 300 WSM. I put a limbsaver pad on it, and its just fine. When I'm hunting, I don't feel a thing. At the range, I only fire a few shots to make sure it's still sighted in. If you are buying it for hunting, I wouldn't worry about the recoil. You mind will be on the game, not your shoulder.

I had a T3 in 338 win mag, peep sight no scope, I put a Limbsaver on and it wasn't too bad, I never wanted to shoot more than a box through it. It was the Forest stock, so a raised walnut cheek piece.
