Tikka/Sako reciever for Build

Where does someone find a Tikka bolt and action for a build without buying a rifle? I have a 6.5 CM barrel and possibly a chassis but can't locate a reciever and bolt.

the little Mac Bros SS Evo is a wicket action for under 1100. I dont know what would beat it out there for that price point. Gone are the days of the $600 dollar tikka T3 in blued for a part out rifle
 
I built off of a tikka action and it turned out really well. I ended up finding a used t3x with the correct bolt face "used" for $650 2 years ago. The stock still had the stickers on it but it did have a few sots down the barrel. If I had to pay much more than that I'd go custom which will open you up to better stock and trigger options

They do offer the BIX n ANDY dakota trigger now for the Tikka. Awesome piece of kit for sure

This is a build I had Casey at Tacord help me out with last year. Started off as a Tikka T3X action in 300WM and is now a 6.5PRC with an IBI CF bbl, MDT LSS-XL chassis, Insite single chamber brake and I kept the factory trigger . On a hunting rifle, the factory Tikka triggers are as good as any out there.
 
Depending what you end up doing if you have to buy a full rifle I might be interested in the barrel. So long as no relief is cut in it!

People are willing to buy take off barrels and stocks. So if you can find one on sale or used that's likely the best bet.
 
Yeah, the take-offs are a hot item. I'll often go looking for take-off barrels, specifically for T3x's since they're a known good quality and I might reuse it for something else.
 
Tikka's are good (built a custom) pre-Covid-19 however, if I was going to do it all again I would bone up some more $$ and go with custom action you can get the action wrench you will need to remove/attach a barrel thus saving you money by doing it yourself. You also deal directly with the company/person that sold you the action (good luck phoning Finland)

Just my two cents hindsight is always 20/20
 
I had called Stoeger with basically the same question. They won’t see you a bolt without the action and barrel being sent to them for head spacing. Tikkas are great because the actions are all the same (other that a short throw vs long throw bolt stop) and the tolerances are good enough for pre-fits. Buy a used T3/T3X hunting rifle for under 1000$, sell the stock, mag and barrel, and if you’re lucky, you end up with an excellent action and very good trigger for not much more than 500$ (depending on whether you went with a stainless receiver or not).

Tikka holds pretty tight tolerances.

The headspace tolerances are tight enough that a few gunsmith and barrel companies are making shouldered prefits for them.
 
There are a few companies that have tried to create a Tikka clone, specifically to get around this issue, but typically they try to "improve" on one thing or another and will almost always make the overall action worse. Why not just make a direct Tikka clone, leave it taking a Tikka (or aftermarket) trigger, and maybe AW cut it if there is material? Garret Preece from Preece precision probably did the best job I have seen so far, but it looks like they stopped making them :(
