Tikka/Sako reciever for Build

There are a few companies that have tried to create a Tikka clone, specifically to get around this issue, but typically they try to "improve" on one thing or another and will almost always make the overall action worse. Why not just make a direct Tikka clone, leave it taking a Tikka (or aftermarket) trigger, and maybe AW cut it if there is material? Garret Preece from Preece precision probably did the best job I have seen so far, but it looks like they stopped making them :(

There's so much aftermarket support for Tikka's, there's not really much reason to get a faux-Tikka.

If you want a full blown custom, then get a custom.

Agreed, but due to the fact that you can't just buy a Tikka and build it, you need to buy the whole thing, sell the bits you don't want, then build from there, which is not ideal as compared to the cheaper R700 clones right?

Just seems like there is a gap in the market there.

the little Mac Bros SS Evo is a wicket action for under 1100. I dont know what would beat it out there for that price point. Gone are the days of the $600 dollar tikka T3 in blued for a part out rifle

Man, $675 in the US.... we get raped here.

I think the value in building off of a Tikka would be one of the following:

1. You already own a Tikka, and can build off of that
2. You don't have the funds to go full blown custom right away, but can afford a Tikka and can slowly evolve it as the funds permit and as you evolve as a shooter.
3. Buy a used Tikka at a good price - bonus the action is most likely already broken in.

Tikka actions are great and make a great base for a build. But perhaps not the most economically feasible in all situations.

It's a shame Tikka doesn't sell receivers, I think they would do very will with that. But European companies aren't really known for their ability to adapt and evolve with market needs.

Agreed - seems like if you have a T3 or can get one pretty cheap then you have a great donor at you can build from but if budget allows, you might as well go straight for a custom build and not have to deal with selling parts off to make your gun whole. I mean, you could buy a CTR or Varmint or whatever and have an excellent shooter out of the box adjust the trigger and mount and optic and shoot. But buying one to re-barrel it right away and replace some of the other parts seems wasteful and honestly, the barrels are mostly excellent so no problem getting a few thousand rounds through it before swapping.
