Hey,
I have never replaced a stock on a hunting rifle, so I dont even know where to start. I have searched around, but all I seem to find are stocks for Remmys, M14's and AR15's. I love Tikka's, but on the T3 Lites, the stocks leave room for improvement.

-Where would I go about finding a new hunting stock for my .308 Tikka?
-Do new stocks need to be worked to fit from a gunsmith, or can I do this myself? I dont mind spending some money if they can accurize it.

Thanks,
Jesse

Ian at Robertson Composites makes an excellent stock. I purchased one for a T3 heavy barreled varmint in .223 a couple of years ago. The best gun I ever sold.

So maybe I didnt think this through.. Are stocks like robertsons made for a specific rifle, or do they make a 1 off of their stock design for each persons needs. For example, if I called robertsons, would they have Tikka stocks ready to go, or would they have to customize a blank for my rifle? That could explain why I couldnt find anything for my Tikka specifically. Neither Boyds nor McMillian make a Tikka stock that I see on their sites.

They make them when you order. Robertson has a good style hunting stock, and McMillan will inlet one of a few designs for the T3. (Sako Hunter and Classic I believe are 2) They are listed under Misc. actions.

Here is one listed on their specials page that someone ordered and then didn't take it (call to see if its still there).

TIKKA

#2627 SAKO HUNTER PAINTED OLIVE, EDGE TECH, RH TIKKA T3, FAC DBM, FAC LITE B/C, 1" DEC PAD, 13.5" LOP, 2 STUDS. $475.00 2/14/10

Here is what it will look like (only olive)

Awesome. Thanks for the help guys. Would people agree with me droping a Tikka action into a McMillian stock, or would it be smarter to go with a rifle like a Savaga that is a bit cheaper, and has more stocks built just for it?

If I ever get another Tikka, it will be going in a McMillan EDGE (their lightest) before I even fired it. :)

This was my Ian Roberton stock. I chose the custom paint.

This thing shot 1/2 MOA at 200 yards with ALL ammo (including 55 g FMJ). This stock is exactly what this amazingly accurate rifle needs.
