Tikka Switch Barrel Rifle Progress

Viper vise is fine for breaking CTR profile and up barrels, but you will not break a factory lite profile without proper bushings.
I run a switch barrel Tikka just like the op and all five of the factory barrels I've tried on two different actions headspaced perfectly.

Another update for everyone! I mounted the 6.5x55 Swede barrel on this morning and took it to the range. Also used the bolt body I had made for the first time. Ran 18 rounds through it and honestly couldn’t be happier. After a little sight in and some fouling shots it produced two 6 round groups under 1 MOA.

Also switched to running some aftermarket mags that I can run a longer C.O.A.L. 6.5prc but also allows me to run standard and magnum rounds out of the same mag so I was running the 6.5x55 out of the same mag which is super cool :).

Can’t wait to get another wide forend like in my t1x and an Arca rail so I can run my MPOD.

Just another update for everyone. I am currently waiting for a custom reamer to be made for my 338 RCM once that arrives it will add to the collection.

Also always on the lookout for varmint barrels for tikkas :) love to get my hands on a 243 or 22-250.

Cheers,
B

i followed but never posted. very interesting project especially from a lefty to a lefty.

I appreciate that.

The setup is slowly coming together.

I’m waiting on a 338 RCM reamer to be made by Manson precision. Just made a deal with a CGNer for a 30 Cal barrel that will become my 300 RCM barrel an this rifle will be complete :).

Also modified the stock with some neat peace’s. This is going to become my hunt anything and everything rifle.

The second rifle will be when I find a good deal on a lefty 223 tikka ideally in varmint. It will be my plinker. A 22 cal, barrel, a 6mm barrel and likely a 7mm barrel all for target work. Haven’t decided on what calibers to do just yet but I’m sure I’ll think of something silly.

I figure its a two rifle setup that will allow me to do anything and everything. I get lots of time to daydream while I’ve been off work with two herniated discs.

I really enjoyed this thread. Great ideas being thrown around. Well done. I have done some reading on removing barrels but I have never actually tried it myself.

Okay so finally got an email with a shipping charge so looks like my reamer is going to be shipped shortly then it will be off to PR Cook for the final works on this the 338 Rcm barrel which I’m pumped for.
