Tikka T1x for the win.

I will shoot some groups tomorrow and post them so everyone can see, there will undoubtedly Still be skeptics but that’s not a problem. It’s a high of -6 tomorrow so it will be a chilly one and I only shoot outdoors at a private range. Anyone know where I can pick up some official 50 yard targets or will any target do?

I think we already established that OP cleared up that it will shoot .5 at 50 "sometimes", not everytime. Hell I've shot stupid groups "sometimes" with every rifle I own...even a $150 Norinco SA22 clone pulled off ragged hole groups a few times.
I'm more of a center fire guy, there is a lot more control there with the ammo. I have a few rifles that will put 5 rounds into .5 at 100 99% of the time. That's what I consider consistent. You come out and tell me to prove it, I am completely confident I could ring that out on demand, until I run out of ammo for the day.
With rimfire you are limited by the ammo, there is good ammo for sure that will help with consistency, but even that will have a "flyer" or 2 somewhere in the box. So yeah, it's hard to buy when someone starts a thread stating such and such a production rifle with the cheapest factory ammo will "easily" shoot .5 at 50 on demand.
Nobody likes calling BS when someone is just expressing joy over their new toy, that's not anyone's point in this thread. Grau was doing it quite politely IMHO...and patiently.

I restated what can be directly taken from what you yourself explained. You said that not only were your CZ rifles notably accurate, but that your older friend, using a CZ rifle also, was "outshooting annies all day" -- even though Anschutz was a not "a bad rimfire". That's not sarcasm, it's irony -- the incongruity between expectations and reality. Many people might expect an Anschutz to prevail over a CZ 455 -- yet it didn't. Indeed your experience with your rifles, the Tikka and the CZ full stock .22LR's, are similar. Think of it this way: "Ironically, instead of the Anschutz shooting better, it was the less expensive CZ's and the Tikka that outshot the German rifle."

I didn't say you were making falsehoods. I put what you said in perspective by comparing your results with what Anschutz has as its accuracy standard. I also gave the Vudoo example as an illustration of how that rifle shot compared with your Tikka. I said your rifle was unusual in its accuracy and was producing extraordinary results. I also said your shooting skills were very good. I cautioned readers that they may not be so fortunate as to get a T1X that shoots as well as yours because the results you described are exceptional. Exceptions are uncommon. In short, whenever a factory-barreled sporter shoots consistent sub-.500" ten shot groups outdoors at 50 yards it's unusual. Unusual means it isn't a regular occurrence, regardless of what ammo is used.

If other shooters commonly shoot consistent sub-.500" ten shot groups at 50 yards outdoors with a factory barreled sporter perhaps they will let readers know. In that case your rifle and the shooting described may not be so unusual after all. In the meantime think of your rifles and the consistent results you achieve with them as something worthy of note. Again, I tip my hat to you.

got out today, was cold but no wind. all groups in the photos were shot at 50 yards i ranged it with my rangefinder, most are under .5" some a very nice groups all are 10 shot groups.

consistent ten shot groups... not all the time but the majority. i dont know why it likes the CCI subs because none of my other rifles shoot particularly well with them but im not complaining. these groups were shot this morning at 50 yards all 10 shot groups

Well, I should probably stay out of this, but the dialogue so far has piqued my interest.
As an individual who loves accurate rimfires, and has several right now that will shoot
the ½" at 50 M, I have to support grauhanen's take on the subject.
I have not owned nor shot a T1x, so will leave that seemingly exceptional rifle off my
list.
However, I have owned several CZ rifles: 452, 453, 455. All were quite accurate, but
I would never take one to a serious competition, even with ammo they liked.
I have a lot of respect for Anschutz, and own a M54 match HB that shoots better groups
than any of my CZ's could.
Others that outshoot even my Annie are: a Suhl 150 Standard, prepped by Jim Williams,
a 40X Remington HB, and a Model 37 Remington.
A couple of these rifles will shoot .25" at 50 with a certain lot of Eley Match EPS ammo.
Obviously not every groups will be that small, but it shows their capability.
The 40x holds the record 50/50 target here at our club.
See 3 groups [10-shot] at 50M below

i got out this morning. all groups are 10 shots at 50 yards, all shot with CCI 40gr sub LHP with my tikka T1X

Very nice shooting, Slipery. Thanks for posting.
I bought some cci to try in my sporters. But not today....60km winds, lol
What model Bushnell are you using?

Thank you! probably a good idea to shoot another day like you said :) that’s a bushnell forge 2.5-15x50 I picked up in the US. Very happy with it especially for the price I paid, I was looking for something with a zero stop so I can use the turrets for corrections and not just holdovers. I hope the CCI shoot shoot well for you.

I tip my hat once more. These are superlative results.

These ten shot group results show more than words alone how unusually accurate this particular Tikka T1X rifle is with CCI Subsonic HP ammo at 50 yards. And, very significantly, they show what a very skillful shooter Slipery is.

If the OP wonders why I say the shooting is unusual -- it is simply because it is. That level of accuracy is not commonplace, certainly not on these pages. While others may envy his rifle and shooting skill, he ought to celebrate having an incredibly accurate rifle and knowing how to shoot it. To add to the outstanding nature of the results, they were achieved with a Caldwell Deadshot bag as a rest (in the front?), not a high-priced pedestal rest or any such thing. Not many shooters posting on CGN can get this kind of accuracy regardless of what .22 rimfire rifle they shoot, even with top tier ammo and bench rests.

I'm very impressed. I think with ten shot groups like these three above the tape -- clearly under .5" -- it seems inevitable that this sporter rifle will be the first to post five consecutive five shot .25" or better groups at 50 yards. This is not moving goalposts, but rather a prediction that seems a sure bet.

CGN member Eagleye has done it, showing that he, too, has a very accurate rifle and is a very skilfull shooter. See post #26 in this thread https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1865614-The-1-4-quot-50-Yards-Frustration-Club-Thread/page3. I have no shame in admitting that I haven't been able to do the full monty.

Very well done, Slipery.

i usually shoot prone with bags for long range so i find that it works best for me shooting groups, to much snow on the ground today however so i shot from a window. not the most stable and i think the majority of groups could have been tighter. as for the bag backwards, well you gotta do what works best at the time :) when it warms up ill give the 5 shot consecutive .25 groups a go. this rifle is my most accurate .22 to date and i think you are correct in saying that not every tikka T1X will shoot this well. it did improve when i took the barrel block out and replaced the cheap plastic stock. cheers

Nice scope. Will check out at dealers. Local Bass Pro has a T1X. Nice rifle. Have to be good for now.

I also did not like the plastic stock when I had the rifle earlier this year. I put a T3 Hunter stock on it and liked that much better.

Nice shooting! I definitely have to try out some of that ammo, have you tried CCI Standard Velocity in the Tikka? Out of my rifles it's meh at best.

No I haven’t, to be honest I bought CCI a long time ago and never bought it again because I wasn’t impressed, when I was testing it my brother in law gave me some CCI sub LHP and to my surprise it shot the second best out of the 15 or so different types (a lot of good ammo in the test) so I went out and bought some because it shot so well. My other rifles like it but not as much as the tikka does.

I like that setup you have there Morgan. I have been really wanting a t1x however I picked up a great shooting cz 455 night sky a while back. Just can’t warrant switching it up yet. Great shooting.

That is a really nice shooting T1X . Wow . I just picked up a new CZ457 MTR and today was it's first accuracy test . It doesn't shoot as good as that T1X . At least not today . I shot 10 , 5 shot groups off a cheap bipod @ 24x , 50 yards . Smallest group was .254 and the largest was .387 for a 10 group average of .337 . SK Rifle Match ammo which is not the best performer in -8C temps . Ok , but not as accurate as my Anschutz MPR .
