Just a heads up for anyone wanting to pick up a right-hand, Tikka T1X MTR in .22LR.

Bullseye North has them on sale for $684.00 until the end of today, January 4. There are currently 18 in stock.

That's the cheapest price that I've seen in Canada and they offer free shipping as well.

I grabbed a lefty back in November when they were finally available, and coincidentally on sale.

The only thing that I don't like about it is the plastic mag, trigger guard, bolt shroud, and thread protector.

I can replace the trigger guard and bolt shroud with aluminum, and the thread protector with a steel one.

I'm stuck with the crappy plastic mag, though.

The barrel threading is 1/2x28 and the rate of twist is 1:16.5".

The stock is supposedly interchangeable with the Tikka T3X CTR, as well.

FWIW, they're supposed to be crazy accurate.

I picked one up from them. Its a really good price with free shipping. You nailed it with crazy accuracy. I have been running SK standard plus through it and its fantastic.

I'd have to shoot someone else's and be blown away by the performance to forgive the ugly magazine design. I don't need Free Willy to be on my rifle.

It's a tough job being a magazine for a rifle. Nobody is ever happy=too expensive, don't hold enough, don't feed right, not available, etc. etc.

Then you have the Tikka T1x mags which hold 10, feed right, are readily available and priced in-line with other mags. Leaves nothing to complain about except aesthetics. lol When these guns came out, I read one critic describe the mag as a "genital wart" which was memorable.

Great guns, and the best price I've seen. I'll be sharing that link.

I believe they just came out with a forest/hunter stock model which shows 5 round flush magazines. So they should be available at some point in the next two years :D

Super easy and cheap to deal with the mag protrusion. I have never seen nor shot another factory bolt action .22 under 1000$ that is as consistently accurate with multiple different ammo types as the T1X. To say I've been blown away by the performance of my two is an understatement.

Sweet looking rifle. I like that bolt knob.

Where did you get the flush magazine ?

^I've said basically the same thing ever since I got one. In fact, it's the more forgiving than ANY 22 I own or HAVE owned in the last 35+ years. Biggest surprise had to be the CCI Velocitor. I had the same box of that stuff for years, kept only for load testing. Ran some through on a whim, and wow... Fun to have a high-octane option. :)

Stranger still (and I have no theories on this) the POI difference between various ammo types @ 50 yards is very similar.

If that's the 10rder,I will eat my words.

How do you mount glass? I notice there is no rail or dove.

Modified 10rd'er that holds 7.

T1X's are machined with an 11mm dovetail. In that picture if you look close you will see the rail, it's a DIP that actually slides into the dovetail. Lowest profile Tikka rail made by a country mile.

With the accuracy im getting on mine, I could care less what shape the mag is.

That's good to hear!

I don't have any premium or match .22LR ammo, but I hear that the T1X's can do well with CCI Standard Velocity.

If the SK and Lapua weren't so bloody expensive, I'd try them as well.

They can. I shoot small bore f class with guy that has a Tikka, it was in a wood stock, asked him what model. He said T1X with a T3 stock.

Shoots quite well.

I have a lefty as well. It sits in a T3X CTR LH stock. just beware the bottom metal is a little wider on the CTR so some gaps are visible around the edges.

As for plastic mags I just ordered a Metal 15rnd mag for the T1x from NDr Shooting Supplies who manufactures them in Alberta. Not a site sponsor but they make some solid products I have a mag for my T3X that is currently my go to. I use it on my switch barrel rifle and run both 6.5 PRC and 6.5x55 Swede out of it.

So I am expect the T1X mag to be the same high quality.

Love my T1X and all the 10 rounders. Yeah, they kinda look funny but being a Match Director and coach, I get to see things fail and drop and fzck up and jam and get stepped on….. :nest:

And I still love my T1x magazines, kinda remind me of Magpul mags.

Anyways back to the T1x, every one of my clients in my Adult and Junior programs love my T1x, so much so, everyone buys one and a second for their partner. No fzcking around with the T1x rigs. I get to see many rifles fail in the middle of a course of fire and Tikka rifles are the zhit!!

Even my wife loves the T1x… she just enjoys shooting from the prone position on to the steel KYL rack at 50 yards. Happy wife…..

Buy what works for you and your game, budget, tendencies, cool factor, and ego!

Cheers, Barney
