has any one else put peep sights on t1x i would like to know where and what you may have tried ....anschutz peeps work well but hard to find so perhaps others have found a good set up thanks for looking

Finding a rear diopter sight to fit the 11mm dovetails should not be a problem. Although not all 11mm dovetails are the same between European match rifles, the T1X grooves are very similar in width to those on Anschutz rifles. (Walther and FWB, for example, are somewhat different.) As a result Anschutz rear sights are very common so finding some should be easy. The difficult part is figuring out how to attach a front globe sight to the T1X barrel. It has no provision for mounting a front sight or sight base. The muzzle end of the barrel can be modified in several ways to fit a front sight base, but the method used would be determined by the front globe desired.

for my t1x i added a canted rail off of a CZ and it fit pretty much perfectly. so i would think a peep for a CZ would fit.

These are options from Williams that mount directly onto the scope rail of most rimfires.

Note that some are higher than others and may require a taller front sight.
-5D-GR (this one is from the 5D family, and has a nice low profile)
-5D-AG (this one is also from the 5D family, and has a higher profile)
-FP-GR (Same as the 5D-GR but has micrometer windage and elevation ajustments and more $$)
-FP-AG (Same as the 5D-AG but has micrometer windage and elevation ajustments and more $$)
-WGRS-54 (this is a narrower option, also a higher profile)

I had a 5D-GR mounted on my henry h001, but I felt it was too wide, plus the whole contraption stole too much of my field of view.
I will now go with this cheaper option, will have to drill and tap 1 screw tho.
Borrowing this image from the internet, sight is the Williams WM-96 Aperture Sight on the Henry H001

What did you do for a front sight on the T1X?

i got a flash hider with the correct thread and lots of meat and steel then re contoured the bottom of a base and drill and tap flash hider to accept the base..then i installed the globe style anschutz front sight the flash hider was set tight then taped in proper spot when all don i put a drop of lock tight on threads then i slipped on the anschutz rear in the dove tail im looking to do a second rifle if i get the sights thanks for your responce

This is probably what I'll end up doing with my Tikka as well. I'm interested in a sporter weight rifle with peep sights recently. I already have the rifle, and it's plenty accurate.

Finding an Anschutz rear peep sight for sale is a bit of a challenge, though

I think the muzzle thread is 1/2-28 UNEF? I haven't pulled the thread protector off to check yet..

My plan is to turn the flats off a nut, or thread a piece of round stock if I can't find a nut. Then silver solder a sight base to it. Then add whatever front globe I can come up with. I can shim the nut to get the right alignment, and finally add a drop of Loctite to secure it.

I don't like drilling and tapping barrels, it's hard to index the barrel properly unless you have the right tools for the job.

The job will be 100% reversible when I'm done, if need be.

i got the flash hider for 20$ plus tax it was easy to work with ,,,lots to tap into and i just got a second anschutz rear from my ad on gn i have globe style front x 3 a spare is nice theparts are easy to get for the front a nut will cost 4 or so think about the cheap flash hider if looks mean anything

I picked up a used sight set yesterday from a friend, the rear has an adjustable iris, the front is an 18mm globe.

Considering the current virus lockdown, I'll do a quick version of the front sight attachment for now and a pretty version when things go back to normal.

It should be a good project, hopefully I'll have some pics in a week or two

I finally got the rifle finished, it was well worth the time and money invested. I like the way it turned out, it's a fun little rifle to shoot set up this way.
10 minutes of work will put it back to the original configuration, less than that to pull the front sight off the base and mount a scope if desired.

The rear sight is made by Unique, a French company that used to build target rifles.
I didn't find much on the 'net just by Googling the sight itself. A query on Rimfire Central turned up a gent that knew quite a bit of the history behind Unique.
It has 1/8 minute clicks, with a Gehmann adjustable iris. It looks to be really good quality, right up there with Anschutz or Walther IMO.

The front is an Anschutz 18mm globe, sitting on a custom made sight block, which in turn sits on a 21mm 1/2 - 28 UNEF thread protector from the good people at Nordic Marksman. Cathy at Nordic showed a lot of patience with what I'm sure seemed like an odd request for measurements. Great folks to deal with, I highly recommend them.

I wanted to be able to index the thread protector so that the flat I filed on it to mount the sight block was perfectly level. Rather than take a chance on screwing up the thread protector, I added a shim between the barrel and the thread protector, made from a 3/8" steel washer.

The washer was 0.070" thick to begin with, and I sanded it to 0.0675" thick to get the alignment perfect. If you do this, be aware that a half thou over or under the "ideal" size will result in poor alignment, with the front sight canted slightly instead of vertical. It's that sensitive! It took me three attempts to get it perfect.

I drilled and tapped two holes to mount the block to the thread protector, then used some blue Loctite 243 to secure the protector to the end of the barrel. It got tightened with a pair of vise grips padded with leather to avoid marring the finish. The shim, sight block, and top of the protector got cold blued before installation.
Another friend offered some clear front sight inserts, which I prefer, along with other bits and pieces.
It turned into a group effort to get this done!

The front sight is slightly ahead of the muzzle, but I don't mind the look. Plus with a 20" barrel, the Tikka already has a short sight radius. I may eventually build a custom threaded barrel extension, but this works well for now.

I've got a T3 Hunter stock on my T1x, as the last pic shows. Sight alignment is perfect for me, nice solid cheek weld, the comb height is ideal.
This makes a great working sporting rifle, even with CCI SV it's plenty accurate to hold the 10 ring on a 50m sporting rifle target.

Do you know the muzzle diameter of the barrel or can you measure it for me please?
