I’m looking to purchase a tikka t1x at some point in 22LR. I love my t3 and want to practice more with a similar chassis, I am a hunter who would do some plinking/silhouette shooting to get my offhand chops up for grouse. Am I better to look for a 16 or 20inch barrel option?

I bought a 16" T1x and in it's out of the box state it was fairly rear-heavy though quite easy to hold. Then I immediately swapped the barrel (20" heavy) and stock for a 22 PRS configuration so it changed considerably.

I would suggest the 20" for you. I figure the 16" is geared towards a supressor for length/balance anyway.

If you want it similar to your T3, the 20 inch model would be closer in size and make more sense.
The 20 inch looks more balanced to the stock length, that said I like 16 inch barrels...... :)
I appreciate it thank you

I have a 20 inch 22lr T1x hunter and I describe it as a rim fire that feels and handles like a centre fire hunting rifle. I weighs a healthy 6.0 pounds.

OP... heed this gentlemans advice as it is spot on.

I first purchased a 16" but found the balance to be biased towards the rear so I sold it and lost some money and then purchased the 20" and was much happier.

16 inch if you plan on walking the bush and shooting off hand. You will quickly appreciate the compact size and manoeuvrability.
