Tikka T1X

My Tikka t1 is a great rifle, the mags are not so great. Some brands of ammo want to stove pipe when being fed, 2 mags same issue. A buddy has the same problem, seems mainly SK plus ammo that i have issues with.

Flush fit mags are easy to acquire if it bothers a guy.

They flipping shoot! No feeding issues. Had one and it's a shooting machine. Sold it to fund a rimx build. I can't tell the difference accuracy wise.
Buy it and enjoy!

^ Those reduce your mag count to 5-7 AFAIK. Great if you're just hunting though!

Mine look inline with the trigger gaurd and allow you to keep 10rds loaded.

I think like allot of mags, they fit 9.5 rounds better than 10. lol Not sure why #10 on so many mags is an issue, the top round often sits under too much spring tension and cocks upward. Never noticed one brand to be worse than another, but some mags are definitely worse than others even within the same brand. I load 9 and rarely have an issue, but shouldn't have to.

I've had mine for several years and over 5000 rounds, no problems at all. Very good shooting rifle.

Mine is in a T3 Hunter stock that I used to have on my T3 243, it's as close to a drop in as it gets.
I had to open up the mag well area very slightly and drill a hole for the plastic pin on the trigger guard. That's it.

I'm using an OEM 5-round flush mag that I got from Stoeger Canada. The mag wasn't cheap, but IMO makes a much better looking setup.

Never had a problem with that on my T1X, but I would have been loading the magazine under an open bolt. A thing I've noticed with other rifles is that a full magazine can be too tight a fit under a closed bolt and under competition conditions when you're for example reloading a semi before it's empty having magazines short a round can help. But a bolt gun is easy to have open during magazine changes.

My Tikka T1X with the 20-inch barrel and S&B 6x42 in Talley QD steel rings now weighs the same as my T3X 9.3x62 with Swarovski 1.5-4.5x20 in the same steel Talley QD rings.
The 9.3x62 weighs a bit less than the T3X .270 (bigger hole in the barrel?) even though it has a front sight. (The rear open sight was removed because I use a Talley peep that slides onto the rear Talley base when the scope is removed. With the low Talley bases, the windage adjustable peep is right on the factory setting for the open sights. Also, the front sight is the same as the Sako sight and is easily height-adjustable, by turning just one hex-screw.)

I thought the big T1X 9-shot magazine would get in the way of carrying but I note that with 20 in. barrel and S&B 6X scope, mine has the convenient balance point for carrying well in front of the magazine.

I love mine, topped it with a Leupold VX freedom 2-7 rimfire scope. Can’t say enough good things about it. Tack driver, good trigger, smooth bolt.

Last week my first Tikka arrived, bought from a CGN subscriber.
Installed a Burris 5-25 scope and to the range.
The trigger at 3.5 pounds was adjusted down to 1.5 and break clean.
After solving the scope issues, some ammo testing occurred at 100 yards and metres.
At 100 M. some sub one inch groups were recorded using match ammo.
Since this will be essentially a gopher gun, Blazer and CCI SV looked like suitable candidates.
At 100 yards the Blazer was around 1200 fps and the ten shot group measured 1.44 vertically and 0.41 horizontal.
CCI SV produced a 1.78" groups the was taller than wide.

Had me excited for a second I might see another T1X at the range on the first Sunday of the month but guess you will stick with your more accurate rifles. T1X is a great rifle so I’m looking forward to how you feel it compares to some of your other rifles.

Haven’t had a single issue with mine. Zero misfires feeding of multiple ammo with zero issues. SK has been accurate as any ammo I have tried.

Overall I like mine very much, but as others have said, the 10 round magazine is terrible.
My other issue is the fixed plastic ejector is in the way if you try to use a .22 caliber cleaning rod from the breech.
