Substitute mags will lock in but a wsm rounds won't feed from a 300 mag so probably not a 338 mag either. Take apart your factory mag, grind /saw out the stop. Takes about an hour, sharp chisel to finish. Replace the follower with a magnum follower. I think I even had to used the magnum bottom to stack three wsm rounds . This leaves you with spare mag parts, I will make a full length replacement follower to complete the robbed mag when I get a chance. I've done this for a wildcat custom, looks like it all should work, rounds are picked up, and seem to feed. I just haven't been able to fully chamber the round due to the fact I don't have my rifle chambered yet. Currently 7mm rem mag, so long action bolt stop. Waiting on a reamer.
I have tried to use it in a co workers wsm but the bolt stop was in and it wouldn't come back far enough to pick up the round.
Searched for an answer also , couldn't find anything so I've tried this, looks promising. Find magnum mag on EE, bubba away.
