HI guys and gals....Whats your opinion on the tikka t3 6.5X55 S/S with 8" twist? Whats best factory ammo reloads or certain factory ammo? Hopin to get a brand new one and need some advice on best accuracy and results like muzzle energy and velocity!! thx to all........:ar15::ar15::ar15::ar15::ar15:

Mine shoots 140grn Barnes XLC's into .8" at 100m at 2800fps. You'll like it, they are slick rifles.

Yowzer! 140 X's at 2800? Sure thats not a .270 you got? ;)

Just kidding, thats awesome! I am very keen on a 6.5, just cant decide whether to go with a classic like a Huskie 1600 or a something more modern like a T3?

I shoot 140's at more like 2600 and 129 gr sst's at 2800 and I've had some tight groups with sst's and 4831sc. I do .6 to .8~9 over and over with the 129gr. I'm trying to figure out the 140 gr even though I know a 129gr sst at 2800 will do a whitetail just fine. I shoot deer at 200 yards max.

My son's likes 47gr RE22/Win case/Fed mag primer...........not saying you can't but I've never seen 2800fps in a 22" barrel with a 140gr bullet.....2600-2700 more likely......Harold

My Remington 700 Classic in 6.5x55SE (with a 22 inch barrel) will achieve 2,818 fps with a Barnes 140 gr XLC and 47.0 gr IMR 4831.

In a Sako 75 with 22-5/8" barrel I had a couple years ago I loaded 48 grs Rel22 under a 140 AMax for 2800...and it shot under 3/4"...shoulda kept that one....

We have three 6.5x55's in our house,a T3,Win FWT and a Swedish 38 mauser.Also a mint 700 Classic barrel in that caliber.The 1-8 twist wouldn't stabilize 160gr Hornady's in the T3 or FWT but the Swed mauser no problem.All will shot the SAKO 156gr bullet.Go figure?I find 42gr of either N204 or IMR4350 the perfect moose/bear drill with a 156-160 pill...............entry and exit hole every time..........Harold.... I also had a AG42

I have a T3 Lite but traded stock with my Hunter stainless, I like the wood version better, I find the synthetic very slipery when cold and just dont like it as much as wood. I put the latest Leupold VX-3 1.75-6x32mm on it. My favourite rifle so far.
For Moose and Deer I love Norma 156gr Oryx.
It also shoot's great with Norma 156gr Vulkan and Alaska
Great caliber, Good Luck

just picked mine up today (varmint model in 6.5x55) will be getting a vortex viper mounted on there soon... the tasco is just "for now"

I have a 6.5X55 Tikka T3 laminated with 3X9 Leupold and like it a lot. It is a very fine deer rifle for the open praires and river gullies. It shoots 140 gr SSTs fine but shoots 129 grain SSTs even better. Work your load up using RL22 powder. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Don't "Should on Yourself" :slap: "You can't own them all at once, but you can own em all once"

Haha, thats what I tell all the guys that say I just "rent" guns. I tell them I can't have 'em all at once...just one at a time.

As for the Tikka in 6.5 Swede, it seems to be the only make out there readily available in that caliber other than Sako. Heck I'd buy on in a heartbeat.
The 6.5 Swd was my 1st ever deer rifle in a Swede Mauser 38 and I sure do miss that cal. The powder I used was H380 and a 140gr Speer.

I have a Remington 700 Classic in 6.5x55. I shoot it a lot. As a matter of fact, it is now on it's third barrel, a Shilen 1-8" 24" long sporter tube. It will shoot the 125 or the 140 Partition into less than one MOA, and the 120 Ballistic Tip into 1" at 200 regularly. It is not too hard to get 2800 out of this barrel with a 139-140 grain hunting bullet. Can be done with Norma MRP, Reloder 22, H4831, IMR4831, Winchester WXR, and Vihtavuori N560. Regards, Eagleye.

Good rifle. As to best hand loads or best factory loads, you still have to do your homework working up loads or trying the various factory offerings to see what works well in your particular rifle. What works well in my rifle will not necessarily work well in yours and why I am not making any specific recommendations for handloads or factory loads for you.
