I'm thinking about getting a new 7mm mag, and was looking at the T3. I have one in 22-250 and love it. My consern with the T3 is the mag length, I want to reload the 7mm mag with Berger 180VLD's. So my question is has anyone loaded these bullets for a T3 in 7mm mag or even 300 WM, and what is the total length of the magnum magazines.
Thanks
Ron

I have 2 7mag t3's one is a right hand Light and the other is a left hand Varmint. The mag length is 3.365 in the varmint (4shot clip) and 3.36 in the light (3 shot clip).

In the varmint I am shooting 162g Amax. They are way off the lands about 0.1" if I remember correctly. I have not really done much experimenting, just did some 3 shot groups with R22 and worked up. Settled on 2950fps. It is under MOA out to 500 yards. My best group so far was 1.8" at 500 for 3 shots, worst was 8" with a little wind.

The burger 180 VLD is 0.014" longer OGIVE TO TIP than the 162 Amax so you would be that much further off the lands in my rifle but I personaly wouldn't worry about it. Both my 7mags shoot well with bullets way off the lands.

I just measured last night while making loads for the 338 win mag. 3.360" for the large mag and 3.490" to the lands. I loaded my ammo up to 3.350". Still 0.140" off the lands so no chance getting there with my loads.

I ran into a bit af an issue when reloading my 270 win. The mag will not allow me to seat my 130 gr SSTs out as far as I want and I think it is affecting the potential accuracy. I loaded up some 110 gr Hor V-max and I can put them .001 from the lands and they group very well.

Try a little more neck tension with the SST. I have found with the SST a little more tension can help smooth out the jump to the lands. I go with 0.003on one of my rifles and it cut groups by 1/2. Any time you are jumping a bullet a long ways look at neck tension or crimping, it can help.
