Tikka T3 Battue Light in 30-06

You know, their initial response was for me to deal with Stoeger myself... when I told them about a recent and very negative experience with Stoeger, they ok'ed me sending it in. I'm starting to get the feeling that I am in for a rough ride. I'm kicking myself for not photographing the deficiencies, but I was in a mad rush to get the POS back in the mail. I hope I'm not put in a defensive posture on this one. I'm tired of the "guilty before proven innocent" bullsh*t that many big retailers pull on the average Joe. Anyway, maybe I'm just paranoid and everything will be ok.
 
Sorry, but if I'm buying a new firearm, I have a reasonable expectation that I will receive a new firearm.

'Congrats on buying your new Corvette, BBQ, washing machine, coffee machine. What? It's rusty and the screws are loose? Oh, too bad. Call the manufacturer.'

It sounds like you bought the equivalent of a 'scratch-and-dent' appliance. Was that your intent? Was that information clearly relayed to you, and was the price adjusted accordingly?

Perhaps the vendor's rep you spoke with was busy or distracted, and did not understand the issue. I'd try calling them again, and maybe speak with management. If they don't address the issue to your satisfaction, then move on to the next step. I would also keep a log of your process, and share that with each party as you progress up the food chain. I doubt the manufacturer's service rep will be pleased dealing with 'warranty' issues whose cause may lie with the vendor's storage and handling practices.

Epps should replace it with a perfect condition rifle from their stock and apologise to you. You shouldn't be expected to beg for it. When recently my Princess Auto wood splitter died on my first try, PA took it in and the store manager personally apologized to me. The replacement was tested in front of me and was repackaged and carried to my truck. They didn't refer me to the Chinese manufacturer!

When my Zamberlan hiking boots were returned to MEC after a 100K hike (for minor issues), the customer service person apologized to me for selling me in the first place, a less than perfect gear "as they should have" (his exact words)! And it was a few months after my purchase. I wasn't told to call Zamberlan distributor in Canada or US!

They are still stores like that and yes, these examples ARE comparable with OP's situation, even though it involves a gun purchase. I am waiting to see which way Epps is going.

One summer - 2002 iirc - I bought a used T/C Hawken. It was made in the 1970's or 1980's and was a well cared for and good looking piece. I started shooting it and after ~100 shots or so I noticed a crack in the tang-wrist. It was obviously getting worse after every shot. Hunting season was just about to start - I can't remember exactly, but maybe in 2 or 3 weeks or something.

I called the T/C rep in Canada and asked if he had a spare stock. He said "no, but I am going to take a complete stock off a new on that I have here and send it to you right away. Take the fittings you can use off the old stock and put it on the new stock, and then send the old one back to me. If the fittings don't swap well, then keep the entire new stock". Is this for real??? Yes, yes it is. And, he shipped everything on T/C's dime.

Now I never asked for anything for free, I wanted to buy a stock. Yet I got one just as described and was ready to go for hunting season and....

Whoa, if i bought a brand new rifle and a vendor tells me that, id lose it. Its not a warranty issue that you send a customer a rifle with numerous deficiencies. My buddy bought a $2300 sauer from Wolverine and they took ownership when it arrived with deficiencies and gave him options as to how he wanted to deal with it. Mind you it took over a month but in the end, all was paid for but never did they try to let him out to dry after taking him money. They got my respect and i would have no problem dealing with them. Glad elps took control of the situation like they should. Probably like many here, I would probably never deal with them ever again if they didnt.
 
Seems like Epps sold out of Battues, but there's plenty of other T3's for sale.

EDIT: 3 are now gone (1, my old one, disappeared), and 2 new ones are up.

Right.... On a more serious note, last week I received "my" Battue Lite in 308 Win from P&D. Excellent service, shipped the same day, received on time. Inspected it with a fine tooth comb - perfect. Gave it a through cleaning, and set up and bore-sighted a scope on a good quality QD mount (why bother with Battue if you "lose" the access to irons?) Was planning to head to the range today... but it's pissing down rain. That's life.

hahah... the mount is a brand-new Ma-Si QD mount, much like the mounts on my Tikka M55 308 (which, of course, also sports irons!) These mounts let me go from irons to scope or vice versa is seconds - without losing zero... I'll take a few snaps when I get a chance ... and you'll be first one to know how it shoots!

Yes sir - that's why we pay a little extra for them... . So, I hope that everything works out well with yours.

As to scopes on them, I firmly believe that good QD mounts will give the best of both worlds with this rifle. And (drumroll, please:) here it is:
