I'm looking for a new one in .308 caliber. My personal preference would be a SS barrel with open sights, but do not think there is such a gun in this caliber.

that will be a special run but the sights will be blued and the barrel stainless are you ready for that?

the other way blued and taking care of it ... stainless rusts any way.

Thanks guys. Will check with Lebaron then.

There is Sako 85 Kodiak with SS barrel and open sights, but not in .308 caliber unfortunately. However, given a price tag on any Sako rifles, I don't think I would be ready for it anyway.

By the way, being not familiar with either of these brands, why Sako is so much more expensive?

Sako is far higher quality. Tikkas are all built on one action length so your .308 is actually a long action. Sakos have 5 different action sizes. The sako action is much more refined, no plastic like the Tikka.

Before you plunk money down on a Tikka make sure you get a feel for it in person, lots love them, but some do not like them at all.

Depends what you want it for. It is a bush/forest gun, designed for moving objects at short to medium distances. For the money, I think they are the best of that class. and honestly, I am not even a Tikka lover!

I am looking for one of these wonderful rifles as well. i got in touch with Stoeger Canada, they couldn't provide much in terms of .308 out there. Lots of 30-06. If anyone has a lead let the peeps know. ;)
