Tikka T3 CTR.

Crashman,

I saw you shoot that Tikka at my PR match 2 yesterday and it brought back find memories of my walnut stocked LSA55 .308 that I owned for two years of my undergrad studies at the university of Alberta. It was my go to rifle of the moose and deer seasons. I miss that Tikka especially since it loved to shoot "dimes"

My only regret with the tikka line is their lack of aftermarket toys, well maybe for now, I am sure that in the future I will contact the fine Stoeger people and look into this .260 Tikka CTR.

Cheers, Barney

Hey Barney, yes my Tikka ran really well yesterday, much better in fact than the guy behind it! I will be upgrading the stock soon, I have one of the GRS laminated stocks from Norway en route and hopefully I will get it before your next match. I too have fond memories of Tikka rifles from my past, I have had the 595 version in both 308 and 22-250 and they both shot very well, then fellow nutter here loaned a couple in 6.5 swede and 338 federal I believe they were, all shot very well. There does seem to be a growing movement with the after market gear for the Tikka, but certainly not what you see for Remington and Savage.

Congratulations and thanks again for running such a great match yesterday, for my first time out I really enjoyed it and learned a lot about my shooting abilities and to pay attention to the conditions! I had a miss on the 800 yard deliberate because I missed the wind change and I sent one waaaaaay out to the left! It was a lot of fun and you will see me and my partner again, hopefully at the next match!

I am interested ina T3 for a hunting rifle but also the odd fun at range. I was looking at the site again and this came up. Its still light, but with what they call a semi heavy barrel contour . I assume its in between normal and the heavy barrel.

My big thought is, can this also take the normal t3 mags, which when hunting the normal mag is fine, but then when at the range, 10 rounds is nice to have.

The Tikka T3 CTR will not take the Tikka T3 magazines.

For $1050 this is a pretty good buy, drop it in a KRG chassis and recoup $150 or more for the TRG mag.

A replacement magazine for the Tikka T3 CTR is $250 each....

why is it that people always say the Tikkas dont have any aftermarket toys?
what do you NEED for them that you cant get for other guns? .. need aside, what do you want?

half the #### available for the Remingtons is useless.. and the other half is going to either be A) universal or B) made for the Tikka as well

How are barrel changes on Tikkas? I thought I read somewhere that they are really difficult to re barrel and not all krieger, schillen etc will fit them. Any truth to that?

Has anyone compared these CTR to the varmint yet? in terms of accuracy? has anyone posted any results yet for this rifle at all?

It seems the CTR is not yet in Canada, maybe not even North America yet. I would think accuracy would be on par and very similar to the Varmint given similar care is taken in load work up, shooter capabilities and environmental conditions. Some even say the short barrel might be more accurate due to it being stiffer and exhibiting less barrel whip during the shot. I will likely pick one up when they come in, I don't have a decent 308 target rifle and I like the Tikka gear.

apart from there being no issue with rebarreling, the Tikka receiver is also much more rigid than a rem or savage, which only have a few millimeters at best between the barrel thread and the outside world. You can hang a truck axle out of a tikka action and you dont have to worry about flex

My shooting partner called Grouse River about a month ago because he saw the CTR on their web site, no stock and none expected until later this year. Maybe that situation has changed.

Has anyone confirmed yet if the CTR uses TRG mags?

I have a TRG on the way and was thinking about buying the T3 Scout as a hunting rifle, but if this CTR takes TRG mags I'll be buying one ... Always a bonus when you can share 250$ mags between guns!

So instead of stsrting new thread reviving this one. Has anyone got there hands on one of these yet? thinking this will be a great way to get a presision 308 and hunting rig in one shot. So anyone held one yet or shot one and da da da details please. And can we confirm the mags are TRG?

they are not out yet, I have one on order. Grouse river says it is in stock, even had a sale a couple months ago on them but every one they are getting is already pre sold

GR is the master of this. Everything is in stock, but most of the time it isn't. They really should have a "pre-order" notice if it's not in stock. I spoke to them last week about this rifle and they don't seem to expect them any time soon.
