Tikka T3 Lite – Lower optic mounting solution?

I picked up a new scope for my Tikka T3 Lite last night. I got a Vortex Viper HS-LR 2.5-10x32FFP with the XLR retical. The store only had Burris bases and Med height Vortex Viper rings.

Does anyone know of any lower mounting solutions? With the small 32mm objective it looks crazy high. Also lower will give me a better cheek weld.

One problem I have is that I need the scope to be really far forward to get the proper eye relief. So I had to go with med. rings to get the scopes magnification ring to clear the base.

Thanks for any suggestions you might have.

If its a 32 mm objective go with a low ring. If you need to lean forward a simple solution is to move the scope back, you have lots of room to move.

Cheers!!

I can’t go with a low ring with these bases. The scopes magnification ring will hit the rear base.

Also I can just barely get the scope far enough forward to get proper eye relief. If I could go another ¼” towards the muzzle it would be perfect.

Who makes rings to mount directly to the rail that is on the receiver?

Thanks.

By all means the scope should be mounted lower. It looks like half inch back would allow lower mounting, so the easy solution, in your case regarding eye relief, would seem to be to put a larger butt pad on your rifle.
Another solution would be to trade your scope for a fixed four power. There would be no power changing knob in your way and fixed power scopes usually have better eye relief.

DNZ Game Reaper low mount - excellent product and inexpensive, OpticsPlanet.com
Or, Warne Tikka rings that clamp direct to the Rail on the receiver.

I have had both, the Game Reaper is my choice.

If you interested in using a DNZ game reaper mount i have a set of low mounts for a 1" tube. I just upgraded to a 30mm tube so I had to switch mounts. Just PM me if your interested, they work great.

I think the Warne rings will be the ticket. With the Med. height I will end up close to ¼” lower and have about 0.1” between the receiver and the magnification ring.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

Didn't read the post right.. Strange the scope needs to go so far forward..never had this problem. You can always change your cheek wield, move the scope back and get low rings or use a spacer on the butt pad like H4831 suggests. Or get a different set of rings

Cheers!!

I guess I have a longer neck then most people.:)

I will look into spacers for behind the but pad. Maybe tikka offers them.

Cheek weld is highly over rated. So is moving a scope 1/4 of an inch forward... Try it with your moose hunting jacket on... place the butt on your shoulder not out on your arm... hold the rifle more out from your body rather than across your body... now it will feel too long... sometimes we have to adapt out body to fit the rifle..

It’s actually not going to be used primarily for hunting. I bought it to shoot in the hunter class for our long range shoots. That’s why I chose that scope, its kind of a "sleeper".
