Looking to buy a 270 that I can use for antelope. Anybody have any comments on the above two guns. Already have a Savage 99 in 308, that I use for deer and have taken deer out to 200 yards with it. I have had the gun for 50 years and am accustomed to its kinda rough trigger, but don't think the trigger is really conducive to long range shooting.

Id take the tikka, little lighter, and every tikka ive owned has been a shooter. And i'm not a huge fan of the A-bolt mag system, not to mention you pay for the name of a browning.

I have a Browning A Bolt Composite Stalker and have many one shot kills from 10 to 325 paces. Everything about the Browning is well made and thought out. It shoots well and is light enough for long hikes.

I have not owned a browning but just bought a L/H Tikka lite in 243 Win. and that rifle has a beautiful trigger and feels great in my hands and most of all I tried 2 different hand loads and both shoot .7'' at 100 yards, can't wait to do more shooting I love it and will buy another for sure. It weighs 7lbs. with a VX3 2.5x8 leupold and Talley one piece rings.

I have both. They are both great.

IMO if you want a nice, light, walking rifle take the Tikka. Super light, with surprising recoil for caliber, because of weight. Add $55 for a limbsaver recoil pad.

If you want a great general purpose rifle get the Abolt. Heavier, better trigger, metal over plastic mags, and most of all made by Miroku. A definite minus is that the barrels have a very fine thread, many a action ruined rethreading new barrels.

I have never owned the A bolt, I can't get past the magazine system. The Tikka is a great rifle, smooth action, excellent barrels and probably the best factory trigger out there. But I would think you should at least shoulder each rifle, preferably side by side if possible and take the one you like best. Good luck!

i have both and prefer the tikka. both shoot well but i'm not a huge fan of the abolt mag system. i would buy a xbolt rather than the a bolt if you don't want the tikka.
