Tikka T3 Lite - Picatinny rail?

I know Ken Farrell makes a Picatinny rail for the Tikka T3. This should also fit the T3 Lite, yes? Also, does anyone else make a picatinny rail for the T3 Lite? I'm just wondering if there's any Canadian made products available. The Ken Farrell mount is a good price, though.

I have a Ken Farrell Rail on my LTR, very nice and I wouldn't hesitate to get one on any other rifle. You are definitely safe with one of those. Not sure on your head shape though. I have a more oval shaped head so I didn't want a rail that was too high, otherwise I wouldn't get a good cheek weld, so make sure you get one that is a better height if you have a wider head.

Hate to revive an old thread, but I'm looking for the factory Picatinny Rail available on the T3 Varmint and Tactical models. Is there somewhere you can buy these from? I know the Farrell can be had, but would like the factory original.

As others have already mentioned, the Ken Farrell Pic rail will work on your Tikka T3 Lite. However, it won't be all that "Lite" anymore.

I have one of the 20 MOA Tikka T3/ Farrell bases and that base must be close to 1/2 a lb alone. It appears to be very well build, but it will just depend what your goal for the rifle is in the end and whether you want to keep the weight down, or beef it up.
 
Yea, the Farrell and Near bases are heavy and that's why I'm trying to find the original factory Tikka. It says there optional to buy in their manuals/catalogues, but where do you get them from?
 
The tic tac somes with one that is attached to the reciever rails.

You could try ordering that from your friendly neighbourhood gun store.

Could not guess the price tho.
 
The tikka rails are poop in my opinion, ask the one on my workbench bent into the shape of a "U".

Just email them and say its for a T3 includes nice allen screws. Likely not as nice as the farrell. Got mine in 8 days. Its matte annodized and is definately better than the factory rail. I got a 25 moa rail.

Just got this in from an email by Epps. Seems I was quoted wrong.
Our distributor does not currently have the Picatinny rails for the Tikka T3 Varmint/Tactical in stock, however they are on order. Please be advised that there are two separate models for these rifles:
° Tikka T3 Tactical rail $100.00 + taxes
° Tikka T3 Super Varmint Stainless rail $112.50 + taxes
Estimated delivery timeframe on these bases is 2-4 weeks.

Can you post some pics?
 
Will post pics when I get it back from the gunsmith in a couple weeks ( or did you mean the rail). I was using my torque wrench tightening down my TPS rings and it actually bent.

By the way if you own a T3 super varmint or tactical have a gunsmith remove the rail. EGW warned me that factory screws are crap. I had 2 shear using a small (esentially torque-free) screwdriver and the heads split in half at the slot.

It's now at the gunsmith having 2 screws drilled out of the reciever :mad: :mad:

The Tikka rail must be too thin or weak metal for that to bend. Cripes, I've yet to bend a simple Weaver base yet! Thanks for that info. Just ordered an EGW rail. The price is right.:)

Just some pics of the rail. I want to see how high it would sit on top of the T3.

Ok, CyberK but it'll have to wait until the gun gets back or Canaukhunter gets his ;)

The factory rail is EXTREMELY thin, I'll put calipers on it to check tonight (just got back from putting my dog down (Avatar)). I would guess its no more than 1/4" from base of the rail to the top of the rail. That would put the base somewhere just over 1/8th in thick when you don't consider the cuts.
