So I've figured out what happens when McMillan makes an error in building your stock...

In October of last year I ordered one for my Tikka T3 Tactical in .308 through 24hourcampfire. I emailed him recently as there has been no word on the stock, and it has been 60 days since I received one direct from McMilllan for my R700 that was ordered 20 days prior to this one. Got an email back that an error was made in that they used the wrong fill from what I specified (heavier "sniper" fill). They are redoing the stock to my specs. That'll teach me to sell my factory stock before the replacement arrives LOL...

So curious me goes to the McMillan site and under "specials" and "stocks' for the "A series" is my original A-5 for the T3 up for sale. Its the only one- but doesn't mention fill, so I suspect the standard fill weight materiel was used.

That being said, if anyone is looking for a McMillan A-5 for the T3 Tac or Varmint, it might still be available as its already made ready to go. If you move fast, maybe someone on here might benefit from my delay.

Funny thing is, they never did call to ask if I would be OK with the error?

Well I can't speak for the company, but I'd prefer to hear "Hey, we can't ship you this, it's not what you asked for." instead of "Hey, we made your stock but we screwed up the fill. Do you still want it?". If you're ordering a quality, high-end part for ANYTHING, it should be exactly what you asked for. In your situation, a phone call would have been better.

You have a good point, and that's likely why they didn't even ask. Looking at their site, there is quite a few of stocks under specials. Looks like it must happen more often than any business owner would like I'm sure.

As the third McMillan that I've purchased- (four if you count a Savage 10 FCP McMillan from the factory), I've never been dissatisfied with the product.

Does McMillan even make a stock for the T3? It seems something with the recoil lug makes it difficult or unfavourable to fit a replacement.

I`ve got one on order, but also called on this one. It does not have adlustment for Length of pull and the will not modify it. It also comes inletted for the factory bottom plastic, which confuses me as to why a person wouldn`t go with cdi bottom metal. The one I ordered had the thumbwheel adjustable cheek piece, lop spacers, sniper fill and is inletted for cdi bm. It was the same price that they want for this one. This one would need to be severely discounted to justify purchasing......imho.

WTF? I am that "person". And I wasn't asking for your "humble opinion".

Real nice pal! You do realize that I am the one that placed the order and these are my specs- choices I made for cost/benefit reason's that are only my own...
I put this up in case someone could benefit from the error. Not to be judged by you on my choice of options... Get over yourself.

Sorry you're so confused.

Sorry, wasn`t directing criticism toiwards you.....sorry if it read that way. I phoned to buy it and mcmillan refused to inlet it for the cdi bottom metal or add the lop system or 3 way butt spacer system. It also seems that they have it over priced considering that I got mine, with more options, for the same price. This response from Mcmillan annoyed me a wee bit. Again, I appologize for upsetting you.

No worries, I was likely a little defensive. I apologize as well.

I just looked at what 24hourcampfire is charging me and McMillan looks like they're trying to make a few extra bucks off of their mistake. Given that it probably takes them a few minutes in the jig to re-inlet and then add the spacer I'm surprised they wouldn't... Business must be pretty good for them I guess.

It's certainly true,

the old book says " a soft answer turneth away wrath..." . It's good to see guys get along. Good on you both! :)

That's odd. They sent me one with a crooked channel. I assumed a test-fit was in order before sending out an $800 stock.

Nope, just your run of the mill "send it back, we'll fix it."

Really? That's the QC at McM?
