Ok, Ive finally decided to purchase a T3 in 7mm and am planning on mounting a bushnell 3200 4-12 x 40 AO on it.

Question is what mounts should I use? Not super excited about the optilocks because of $$$$$ and no matte option.

Suggestions......

the optilocks are by far the best mounts avalable. i use them on my 300wsm. also using millet on an 7 08. half the cost and seem very secure. the millets weigh about half what the optilocks do. the millets also have the recoil stop that goes in the hole on top of the reciever so the rings can't slide back. both seem to work for me.

My buddy bought a set of Millets for his Tikka and they are a POS. They needed to be lapped because they were so ####-eyed. To make matters worse, Stoeger wouldn't hear any of it. They kept saying "improper installation". I guess the gunsmith didn't know how to install them either. Spend the money and get a better set of mounts.

I had the millett's on my .300 win mag, and were solid, but went to weaver bases and rings, due to a better fit height wise with the new 50mm scope I installed. I think the total was $40 for rings and bases, but if you're not in a hurry, I'd save for the optilocks, there not matte, but neither is your barrel.

I"d say Optilocks.
They are not as expensive as you think.
Give Joe a shout. A+ to deal with.

No matte option? I know some 5-6 paints that would amaze you..... Krylon enamel matte being one ofthe favorites.

Just mount them and forget they're there... you know what they say.... cry only once.

Come on guys, how about a good old set of burris zee rings on weaver bases. They're strong, lightweight, can be gotten in various heights and come in a matte finish. Its a win win situation, and the price is as good as it gets these days.

Just my 2 cents, Homesteader

Yeah lots of options and I have mounted most of them on the T-3's at one time or another. I prefer the Optilocks or Burris Signature, both are rock solid mounts that use inserts which save your scope and make installation simple.

x2

I had a pair and they came off right away. A real ##### to mount too. If they only had 1 adjustable claw and a stationary side, they would be easier. Getting them perfectly centered is a joke. Poor system and weak.

I also tried the Opti Locs. Definitely the strongest system I figure but even the low's were uncomfortably high and the price is unreasonable. Sent them back too.

I had one of my T3's come with a Burris Signature mount and rings. I like this system but what I have on the other 2 are my favourite bases/rings. Talley Lite Weights. Simple, strong, lite and affordable.

I give my vote for the Optilocks. I have 4 Tikka's... 3 - T3 Lite Stainless... 1 in 338 Win... 1 in 300 Win Mag... 1 in 270 WSM and a stainless Laminate in 300 WSM. I've got stainless optilocks on all of them and have put these guns through some rough hunts. Mountain goat, grizzly, moose etc. lots of bouncing around in scabbards on horses, and the bases and rings work great. They stand up well to the heavier recoil (max loads in 338), terrible weather, mountain hunting and the abuse that gear can take when hunting in rough country. All of the above have Bushnell 4200's on them... I have been very happy with this setup of Bushnell Elite scopes, Optilock rings & bases on Tikka rifles.

Just my experience and my 2 cents.

Cheers!
