Was out coyote hunting yesturday with the hounds and I got a shot off at a coyote and after the shot I couldn't open the bolt. I heard a good smack sound from the gun when it fired and I'm sure it was the bolt slamming down when the trigger was pulled.
I finally got the bolt open (got the coyote one shot) and I could see a small mark on the gun below where the bolt sits when it's down.
Playing with the gun when I got home I realised I can dry fire the gun when the bolt is up a good inch or so, causing the bolt to slam down and hard to open (not as hard as when a bullet is fired)
The bolt is so easy to open in this rifle I feel like this isn't the first time it's happened but in the heat of the moment I didn't notice.
How dangerous is this in the sense that the bolt isn't fully closed upon firing. It's a .22-250 that I've had for about 7 years and fired hundreds of rounds and have had hard to open bolt a few times.
