Well my internet is slow where I'm at right now so i figured I would ask this here.

Is there such thing as a mercury or fluid filled recoil reducer that goes into a synthetic stock on a Tikka T3?

I seem to remember reading about it a while back. How do they work? Anybody use it?

If such things exists, anybody got one for sale? A buddy of mine wants one.

Certainly people are all different in how much recoil they can handle but Bouhuntress shoots her .30-06 with no issues with just the addition of a Limbsaver. Seems a shame to add weight to a T3.

He bought the gun because it was a cheap, good quality, available, lefty in the caliber he wanted.

He doesn't need or want this rifle to be light- As a matter of fact he wants it to be heavier; hence the recoil reducer. The outcome may or may not be what he is looking for, but hey, it's Winter and time to tinker.

He already replaced the piece of crap on it with a Limbsaver.

Put a laminate stock on it, the weight will go up quite a bit. My brother has a T3 in 30-06, I have the old model that's about 1 lb heavier(still synthetic, and 30-06). I can shoot mine prone all I like, but I have to watch it or I get a scope kiss from the T3. And my shoulder can tell the diff too. If you want synthetic, a Bell and Carlson seems to be highly recommended. There is a stock called a Knoxx with recoil reduction springs in the buttstock. It's patterned after a Hogue overmould, and has the rubber moulded on. I saw it on the Midwat USA catologue. I'm sure you could strike a deal with some of our sponsers, if they don't already have them.

I also put a limbsaver on mine, it is only a 7-mm08 but I can now shoot it all day without feeling a thing. But yes I have installed mercury recoil reducers in synthetic stocks, quite simple really.

You have to carve out a couple pieces of hardwood or 3/4" ply wood to fit inside your stock. I then epoxied the two pieces of wood to the recoil reducer (had a small hole to hold it in place) Then the wood is epoxied into the stock. I also leave a small hole to accommodate the nozzle of a can of spray foam, this will kill the hollow sound and help hold the reducer in place.

rgwhitman (a CGN user) makes reducers to any length you need.

You may also be able to get a slim one and insert it into the fore end, in fact you may wish to either add a reducer or weight to the front to balance the one in the butt. You can also add 2 or 3 if there is room.

I have a limbsaver recoil pad that I could sell you, that I used for my synthetic stock tikka....$40.00 with shipping.

I tried one of his "custom" reducers in a 375Magnum. Made no difference. No refunds.

.

I tired one of his reducers but never actually fired the gun that I installed it in. So I have no idea. But how can you reduce the recoil in a .357 magnum, we are talking a bout a rifle I assume, there is no recoil there to start with.
