Tikka T3 Rifle

Its a fine hunting rifle, assuming you like the look and feel of it. On the plus, it has a light crisp trigger and extremely smooth bolt. On the negative, some people don't like the plastic parts (trigger guard, bolt shroud, stock, magazine), the general style, or the small ejection port that makes feeding a single round difficult. It has a reputation for being more accurate than average hunting rifles, and the one I own lives up to that reputation. That's my one paragraph review of the T3 light.
 
Tikkas are generally very accurate - some of the most accurate factory guns in fact. I have owned a couple of the Tik-Tacs and I liked them and I have a T3 hunting rifle I swear by.

Pros: very accurate, butter-smooth action, integrated picatinny rail, I found them very comfortable.

Cons: Expensive, I dislike the plastic magazine system, accessories (particularly stocks) are/were all but impossible to find for the T3 because of the recoil lug design.

The existing stock is controversial, with many disliking its tupperware feel. I liked them.

If you want a rifle to which you need do nothing to get good results, th T3 is a good choice. There are several for sale in the equipment exhange.
 
I tried one of my buddies T3 Varmint in 7mm Rem Mag at the range last night - throwing 4 inch groups at 550 yards - I don't dig the plastic mag, but I've heard you'll smash bullets in the mag before you'd ever break the mag - regardless - I WANT ONE myself now....thinking 270 WSM....Impressive gun for not a terribly ugly pile of money.
 
I have 2 myself both T3 Tactical rifles one in .308 and the other .300 win mag. I personally think there is no better factory rifle that comes close to the accuracy that these will do out of the box. To date the best group, max spread, with the .308 is .11" 5 shots at 100yrds using federal 168grn GMM. .5" with win 168grn ballistic tips.That one wears a Nightforce NX 12-42x56. The .300 win is a half inch gun with Win 180grn ballistic tips, just bought 190grn GMM for it but havent got to the range yet. It wears a Luepold 3.5-10x40 M3. Yes they have a sorta cheap look to them for some people, but I like the look. The mags aren't cheap, again they kinda look it, but good products usually are not. The guns have a very light trigger pull and as stated the smoothest bolt throw shot of a full on custom gun. As you can tell I absolutely love them, and would not hesitate to buy another 3 or 6.
 
I just sighted in my new t3 Lite / Stainless / .223 Rem / most accuracte Rifle [ out of the box ] I,ve ever used / love the feel and now the action works / 3/4 in. group at 100 MT / this is one gun that will show you how good a shooter you are !

Don't let the plastic mag fool you. I have abused a 300 wsm SS tikka t-3 for the last 4 years or so. I hunt via horseback for 2 weeks a year, and the rest of the time it's on a quad or in a boat. The thing won't break. In my experience Tikka's have to be the most accurate out of the box rifle out there on the market. You don't need to glass bed it or tweak the trigger or shoot 10 different kinds of ammo to find something it likes. The mags used to be expensive but they are down to about $70 or so.

They are light and buying scope mounts is easy. If you happen scratch it or bang it around too much, you can always but another without having to re-mortgage your home!!!
 
I have 2 and will be buying a 3rd soon. I have one of them up for sale as I am looking for the same thing in a heavy barrel. If I hunted I would never sell it. It is my goto rifle when everything has gone for #### at the range.
 
It isn't the magazine construction I dislike, It is the fact that it is often a problem seating the magazine properly. You must really push then in until you hear a barely audible click. I really hated having to collect my magazine off the bench after the first shot until I figured out what the problem was.

It is not a huge deal, on the whole, I love these rifles.
 
I find that CLICK when the mag locks in very positive. You just know when you hear it your worries about a mag falling out is over. It's really something any shooter using a mag gun should make a priority & with the Tikka I consider it a bonus to know it's locked in securely.
 
I own a T3 in 300wsm, bought it to use as a moose gun. By far one of the best purchases I ever made. Not to fussy on the cost of a second magazine but what can you do. I changed the recoil pad to a Sims Limbsaver and I'll definitely will be holding onto this gun for a while!
 
I bought a T3 Varmint in 300WSM for moose, tried a limbsaver and went back to the stock pad, no real difference in that weight of gun
I love the gun, it's accurate, smooth and flawless feeding. Personally I love the thin magazine, nice and light and a spare fits the pocket great.
The varmint stock looked really cool until I got it, the forearm and raised comb are just screw ons to the regular T3 stock as far as I can tell and is the only thing that feels cheap to me. Robertson Composites makes a couple of great drop in stocks for it though...
 
I bought the T3 Lite 6.5x55 this weekend, mounted a Bushnell 3200 Elite 3-9x40 with Weaver bases and rings. Sighting in I got less than 1" at 100yds and aprox 2 1/2" at 200yds. (Rem. 140gr express Core-Lokt). Over all I am pleased with my Tikka. Planing to reload and work up some realy good accuracy.
Mine is blued with synthetic stock and the matt Bushnell scope goes with it nicely.
