Has anyone else had trouble with the way this rifle feeds cartridges?

The issue with mine started as an occassional thing only but now it's become pretty consistent - and annoying.

What seems to happen is that the bolt face misses the back of the cartridge as it comes forward. The cartiridge moves forward out of the magazine due to friction between the bolt face and the side of the cartridge resulting of course in a taggle or jam meaning I have to drop the mag and shake the misfed round out.

I've actually used this rifle very little. Mainly only at BRRC and a few times at Galt. It's been extremely accurate but this feeding issue sucks. Since there's no wear on the rifle itself I suspect the isue is with the plastic mag. Any suggestions?

I've never had any issues with mine. The mags work flawlessly.

Do you have an extra mag you can test with? Did you buy the gun new? Are you sure the mags are seated properly?

No I don't have an extra mag.

The mag always appears to be seated properly but I plan to check if there is any adjustment possible on the clips that hold the mag in place.

Is yours .223 Rem?

I'll bet you a beer and a doughnut it's the way the mag sits in the gun. The Tikka mags are notorious for not seating properly. Take your mag and push really hard on it until on the forward edge where the mag release button is located. you must hear an audible click

Next time I'm anywhere near Chase I'll hit you up for that beer. I'm not even fussy!

But no, I am absolutely certain that the mag is 'clicked' into place. If anything it's actually the rear part of the mag that sits too low.

The Tikka problem I can relate to, my Tikka Varmint mag. works good(.222 Rem.) but you must use the mag. and for bench shooting it is a pain. You cannot just put one in through the loading port and have it feed, always hangs up, must be a Euro thing.

Yep 100% I agree been there done that and your right they are a SOB sometimes you think they are seated and they are not.... Proof on paper too!

However my 222s can be stubbern to load a single with the just do not want to go in the pipe

My T3 (.270) loads fine from the port as long as the mag is in and the rifle is sitting close to vertical. Ive heard that the port loading problem is only with certain calibers...

As for the bolt face missing the cartridge, I haven't run into that problem yet. But when I pop my magazine into place I usually hear 2 audible clicks: the back of the mag seating against the action and the catch on the front locking into place.

Mine needs to be firmly (very) pushed up into the gun. And I found it will not single feed, I MUST use the mag. Pain in the butt when your shooting 10 snaps and you only have room for 4 in the mag. with no budget for the extra 6 round mag.

Doughnuts and beer just do not belong together.
"...don't have an extra mag..." Sit down. T3 mags run $69.95 each from Shooter's Choice in Waterloo. OUCH! Have a look in the mag well for burrs. Not likely, but look anyway. Then get used to thumping the mag to seat it.
