I just bought a Tikka T3 SuperLite in 7mm Rem Mag from Cabelas.
I figure it would look great in my Robertson stock I had on a 30-06.
Scope is a Bushnell 2.5x10 Elite 4200
Sighted it in, looks like a good shooter, I pulled the third shot to the right of the group so shot a fourth shot for the 3 shot group you see.
Hoping to shoot it more when it warms up.

Interesting rifle. When I spotted it on Cabela's site, I checked the Tikka site for more info, and found it wasn't even listed or mentioned. Went back to Cabela's site...and it showed as "no longer available". Hopefully it'll reappear, as it's a very appealing lightweight.

I just checked the Cabela's site, I don't see nothing about "no longer available"?, but I do see its on special, thanks, I will try to get the $70.00 savings. That and the free shipping I got will be a great deal. Yes I think this model is only available in Canada through Cabelas if I'm not mistaken.

You're right, it's on there...I don't know if they have been changing the listing, or if I got mixed up somehow (been known to happen!). But check the specs, specifically weight. The Superlite, at least in .308 and .300WM, weighs exactly the same as the Lite, and has the same barrel length. What's the point?

Yes, I double checked! :)

The pictures do look different, with a noticeably slimmer and fluted barrel on the Superlite as shown. This wouldn't be the first time that factory specs got all screwed up on a retailer's website. I hope you can post your impressions and photos when you get it.

Not sure, didn't check, not really worried about that, I wanted the fluted barrel, I don't have one of those yet. HaHa. Like you said, could be a typo.

The fluting really only saves about a 1/4lb , but since the weight is along the barrel almost to the end, rather than where you support the rifle, it feels very significant. A very light an handy rifle for sure. I shaved another 5 ounces with a McMillan hunters edge I showed here:

The barrels are the same profile as the T3, not thinned at all, fluting is the only difference. There is also a weight variation in calibers, the 22 caliber weighs 6 1/4 and the 30 caliber weighs 5.9lbs due to the larger bore diameter (less material). These barrels are .620" at the muzzle which is impressive. I find this optimal compared to the pencil barrels on say, ruger ultralight or reminngton model 7 which are around .500" at the muzzle

That's what I thought also, definitely not a pencil barrel.

I've been looking for a lightweight stainless rifle for a bit now. I considered a Kimber, but a couple of bad experiences with Kimber (and no good ones) has soured me on them. I wanted a .300WinMag to replace a couple of older, chunkier ones I've just sold, and the Kimber in that chambering is quite a bit heavier than their short action job. I was on the verge of buying a Vanguard Backcountry, although it is also a bit heavier than I was hoping...and then I spotted the T3 Superlite on Cabela's website. Never heard of the model before that, but I went down to look at one and bought it on the spot. Stainless/synthetic, very shootable hunting trigger right out of the box, 24-inch fluted barrel. No serious accuracy testing yet, but several assorted 180gr loads that I had on hand shot three into less than 1.5MOA, rested off a picnic table @ 100 yards in -20 temperatures but with almost no wind. With a proper rest and more pleasant conditions, 1 MOA or better will be a gimme. And best of all: scoped with a 2-7x33 Leupold in Talley lightweight rings, the unloaded gun weighs 6.8 pounds...much lighter than the specs published on Cabela's site. It's early, but I think this gun has HUGE potential.

Forgot to add: the gun is on sale for $929. Considering that the Vanguard is several hundred more, and the Kimber several hundred more yet, I think the value is excellent.
