I want to buy a Tikka rifle. I was trying to decipher the difference's between these two rifles. If anyone has used both or has one or the other can you post some info about likes or dislikes of the rifle. I plan on getting it in 308. Use's will be hunting mainly deer, moose, bear, will probably do a little coyote shooting for practice and fun & some paper punching at long range.

The Tik Tac is parkerized and is threaded for a muzzle brake (one of Tikka's own brakes) the super varmint is stainless with no brake provision.

Both are gaw-damned good rifles and in my opinion they are the most accurate factory guns you can buy.

Yeah they both look amazing and I couldn't rely tell if there where any other differences than that. Like if one had adjustable trigger and the other didn't for example.

ONLY difference between the to is the finish and barrel. the barrel has a different contoure near the muzzle. i think this is done to get better results from the TRG muzzle break they are threaded to take, and its threaded.

and i guess this is a difference but the T3 tact only comes in 3 cailbers and the Super comes in several from .222 rem to 7mm rem mag.

i own both

tact in 300win
super in 6.55x55

Are you saying the new S.V,s come with a Pic rail?? They do not..unless they are old stock, had this discussion with Stoeger..online Tikka makes it look like it's standard..but I ordered one, when it arrived, it didn't come with one..it went back.

Interesting! The last one I handled had a Pic. rail. It was for all intents and purposes, a shiny Tika Tactical. This sucks if this has changed. You're sure it wasn't just the plain Varmint model vs. the Super Varmint.... Forget i asked, I'm sure you know the difference :)

Like I say Ian..it was quite a heated debate with the guy at Stoeger..when mine came without..some may have them.but if a guy is ordering please just ask the retailer if it has one..they are like $175..if i remember correctly? If it has one on in your hands well your golden.
My 204 Ruger came with one..
To me the base makes up at least some of the difference in price between the Varmint and the Super..aswell as the stock.
EDIT..are you talking about the Tactical?? they come with base.. from what I gather.. never bought one.

my super came with a rail.

300 winmag is VERY nice. no recoil at all with the break. i get very nice groups at 300yrds with factory hornady.

More importantly than the clear differences between the tac and the super varmint, can anyone tell me what the difference between the varmint stainless and the super varmint is? Other than an enlarged bolt knob and the apparently no-longer available rail? Seems a little excessive to spend 600 more for a bigger bolt knob!...as much as I love tikkas

according to the tikka website, the varmint stainless does have the adj cheekpiece...

I have a Varmint Stainless, and the cheek piece is not adj.

It's a fine rifle nevertheless.

No base either, but that was remedied with a very fine Ken Farrell stainless pic rail.
