I recently acquired a Tikka T3 Tactical, and considered a lot of different stock and chassis options before deciding on the GRS Berserk synthetic stock.

For those unfamiliar with GRS, they are a Norwegian company best known for their high quality and beautiful laminate stocks.

I haven't noticed any other threads about the GRS Berserk stock here on CGN, so i thought i would share my initial impressions - and add a more detailed hands-on review later on once I've had some good field/range time with it.

First impressions were very positive. Much more ergonomic for me than the OEM Tikka stock, as well as much more solid-feeling, durable and grippy. I forgot to weigh them separately, but my guess is that the GRS stock is a bit heavier as it is a more robust design.

One small quibble i have about the GRS Berserk stock is that both the cheek piece and the adjustable butt will pull right out if extended too far. Now this isn't a practical problem for many who will set the adjustment and leave it as is...but i take guests to the range often and share my firearms, and I can see this being an irritant. The pieces go back in with a bit of fiddling, but I would prefer if there were a simple way to lock the adjustable pieces in place once they are at maximum extension.

GRS Berserk stock installed:

Tikka T3 Tactical .308
GRS Berserk synthetic stock
Sako TRG22 muzzle brake
Harris HBRMS bipod
Seekins Precision high scope rings 30mm
Zeiss Diavari ZA 2.5-10x52mm T* scope

Overall I'm very pleased with the stock and overall setup so far. The rifle feels really solid, grippy and comfortable in my hands, and the adjustability means I can get it just as i like it. The stock looks and feels like it would stand up well to long term hard use.

Looking forward to putting it to the test at the range at some point in the next couple of weeks.

Looks really good, I've been interested in the Berserk stock since they first announced it. How much did it end up setting you back?

My receipt is hiding on me at the moment, but I believe all in (shipping and taxes incl.) it was under $800.

I originally emailed GRS directly, and was put in touch with their Canadian distributor, Red Star Targets. Scott at Red Star was great to deal with. Good communication, and fast shipping once i finalized the order.

How rigid is the fore end?

It is very solid.

From the GRS site:

The Stock comes with pillar bedding Blocks made from 65% glass fiber as standard.
Recommended torque is 5nm.

Specifications

· The material is a 15% fiberglass reinforced Durethan.

· The composite stock will be made in one size, black colour and in right hand configuration only.

· The grip and forend is 5% slimmer than the Sporter varmint.

· LOP 33,5- 36,5cm. This size and LOP is the ideal based on the feedback we get from end users.

· The surface under the rear stock has been lengthened so it will work better with the use of rear bags during prone shooting with bipods.

· The grip and fore end has rubber grip surfaces for better friction in wet conditions. The surface of the rest of the stock is also with a texture so it is very easy to grip.

· The stocks will have pillar bedding in them as a standard made from 65% glass.

· They come with flush cup sling mounts and push button sling loops.

· They will have one sling mount on the front stock for mounting bipods.

· Weight is 1,4kg in the Tikka T3 inlet.

· The height adjustable recoilpad can be mounted as well (optional extra feature!).

Made it to the range on Monday with my son and put a box through it. Feels great, and fits me very well.

The grip is on the large side (as you can see in the photos above), so likely wouldn't suit smaller hands.

I was recommended this stock and I am glad you posted your experience! Did you notice any improved accuracy?

Can't say for sure as I haven't had much time with the rifle and didn't shoot it with the OEM stock...but judging by how comfortable it feels and what limited shooting I have done with it, I'm expecting very good results.

I picked up a box of Lapua Scenar 167 grain so will give those a go the next time I'm out.
