What purpose does a large bolt handle serve on a T3 sporting rifle?

I can see swapping out the bolt shroud for non-plastic and upgrading the recoil pad, but the factory bolt works fine as is.

When you have large hands, like me, a larger knob feels good in the hands... ok... that didn't sound right! But, you know what I mean!

The larger bolt knob from Tikka is very nice for winter time operation, as well as making just that smidge easier to find. I love it, just sux that they want an arm and a leg for the darn little piece of plastic.

As to the 300 win mag I love my T3.......but it's in a Boyd's laminate with a decellerator pad. Recoil is a non issue. I fire many rounds prone with good repeatable groups.

Suppose it is how you cycle the bolt.

Manipulate bolt with thumb and index finger or slide hand under bolt protrusion-lift -pull back with index finger-slam forward and cycle closed with thumb.

The larger handle makes it easier with the latter method or with a gloved hand.

Friend got a great deal on a 300wm T3 lite. After first shot he know why. Ouch.

I was thinking about picking up a tikka t3 in 300 win mag.
How hard is the recoil on it? I have shot it before from a different rifle and was not botherd by it and was wondering if it carried over to the tikka

Wear a sissy pad at the range if you have to and you will never notice the recoil when hunting. Not rocket science.

Have a Superlite 300 wm in a Medalist, new shroud and oversize handle. Recoil fine, large bolt great for big cold hands...especially coming from an x bolt.
