Tikka T3 Varmint

I currently have a Tikka T3 lite in 30-06 for hunting and love the accuracy and bolt feel. This gun re-built my confidence after alot of years trying to get a BAR to group. Starting to do more target shooting and looking at a heavy barrel gun that is a little heavier so the re-coil will let me do more target work at the range, but still put down moose as my backup hunting rifle.

Been pricing out the Tikka T3 Varmint in left hand. The best price I can find is $1150, anyone know of a better price in Canada?
 
I'm always checking the prices of T3 varmints and the best price I've ever seen new was $1099 new. That was for right hand, not sure if they charge more for left like some companies.

I had a T3 Lite in .30-06. Recoil was rather harsh without a LimbSaver pad. Great gun, though, especially for carrying all day while hunting. You will find the Varmint noticeably heavier, but if you're okay with that, it should serve you well.
 
I bought a limbsaver for my lite as well and that has made the recoil very manageable. I try to keep my shots under 12 (four 3 shot groups) before I quit at the range to keep from getting a sore shoulder and starting to flinch.

I am looking for more weight so I can shoot more than 12 shots, I am actually disappointed it is only 8 lbs weight, a little more would be welcome!

A 8 lb (remember it will be closer to 10 lbs with glass and rings.) In .308 will be a pussycat. Don't worry.
 
Buy it if in stock any thing new coming in is going to cost more due to the low Canada buck

I don't bother with recoil pads anymore. I wear a Past recoil shield. A good investment.
I bought it mainly for my 12ga 870, which, btw, has an R3 recoil pad on it.

I have been thinking about getting one. When I target shoot in the winter and hunt I have a massive coat on. In the summer at the range with a tee-shirt on I feel a big difference in re-coil. I was actually thinking about building a redneck one out of an old snowmobile coat.

Do you find it makes a big difference?
 
1150 $ is about right, better bought it now than waiting since our Canadian dollars seem to go down hell. I had one in 300 win mag, best rifle for the buck. Put a sorensen brake on, the recoil feels like .223 Rem, I can shoot all day long without hurting my shoulder the next day.

I think that's about ballpark? I bought a LH stainless varmint in 22-250 several years ago.

Man av been looking for a 20"MT SS, small caliber (204, 223 etc) Varmint, R/H to drop in my sporter stock. Been longer than I care to remember.

If you happen to locate one by mistake then pop it up on here.

EDIT: There's a LH 22-250 forsale on Usedfirearms for $950.

Look what I found at the Boat and Sportsman show in Edmonton!







Left hand Tikka Varmint in 308 win! Picked up some Talley rings and mounted up my spare scope as soon as I got home. Planning for a limbsaver and a Harris 6-9" bipod a little later on. Picked up some ammunition on the way home too so hopefully I can sight in soon!
