Tikka T3

look for a decent one on the forum would be my suggestion unless you have to have a new action? I am not aware of anyone selling a bare bones action. I found a barreled action for a good price that became the donor for my 6.5-06 and love it. My favorite rifle right now.
 
You might be stuck buying the whole thing. I've been watching for a Tikka short action with a .308 bolt face for a while now and have pretty much decided that I will have to buy the whole gun. There have been Rem 700's, Savages and some Mausers but I have not seen a Tikka. I already have a few 700's, one Savage (don't want another for a build) and a Mauser but really want a Tikka.
 
Ah ha! So I could buy any T3 as long as it has the .308 bolt face that I want? What kind of a job is it to replace with the proper bolt stop?
 
The older bolt stops were solid material so you could grind a short to a long. The last one I did had a skeleton stop that could not be altered much. I have a friend that does warranty work for them and he fixed me up turning a 7-08 into a 284.
 
Yeah, I have a WTB ad in the EE. Looking for a 308 action with the set trigger and teflon bolt with large knob. Stock type and barrel are really not a concern.
