Hey folks.

I bought myself a new toy for Xmas and I'm looking to pack my own rounds. I've been reloading for my pistols and my .30-06, but this is my first venture into the realm of belted magnums. Any recommendations as to what powder? How about bullets? I had excellent success with IMR4350 and 168gr Hornady SST's in my 06 and so far my Tikka with factory ammo (Hornady Superformance) I shot under 1" 3 shot groups at 100m. Id like to tighten that up.

Next thing is cases. How much of a difference does it really make? Is a Federal case better than a Winchester or Remington or vice versa? Am I just opening up a can of worms? My list of questions goes on and on, so let's start here.

I like 7828, H1000, and Reloader 22. 150 grain Barnes tsx, 165 grain Sierra game kings and 162 grain hornady match. I run federal magnum primers. Federal brass sucks. Hornady isn't great either. Winchester and Remington brass has been the most reliable for the 2 7mm I am loading for

So what's wrong with federal cases?
R-22 seems to be hard to come by. The guys at my local gun shop refer to Alliant Powders, especially Unique as "unicorns".

try 150gr Hornady ELD-X over RL22 or RL26, neck size or partial FL size the casing so headspace is off the shoulder, not the belt

Federal brass just doesn't hold up. Loose primer pockets come early and often.

As far as Reloader powders, they are available in my area and there is always the.....Internet

Retumbo and hornady 162s are my go to. In my sendero the sst's, eld-x and a-max all like the same powder charge. Like others have said neck or just enough full length to get the neck will extend brass life, both of which I do for range rounds but I full length for hunting rounds.

That's my exact combo. I find the 7mm an easy one to load for. Not super picky
I thought it was easy to load for until I started running my loads over a chrono. I wasn't getting anywhere near published velocity. I'm talking like 400fps slower. It took a lot of powder and bullet combos to get magnum velocity. Ended up with h4831/140 etip was the best accuracy/velocity combo. I tried lots of rl22 and just couldn't get it to work. I will second the retumbo/162gr combination though.

I had no problems getting good accuracy running 140gr bullets at 3200fps using R-22.

7828ssc and 139 grain ssts or nosler ballistic tips grouped very well in my t3. Quick loads has a max of 69.5 grains so start down a bunch and check for pressure signs.

I've just started reloading and I've used remington cases 3 times and Hornady cases 3 times. These Hornady had head case separation after only 3 firings.... not impressed. I bump the shoulders 0.002-0.003 so I was expecting a longer life for these hornys....

So how many reloads do you guys make out of your cases?

FYI, I am now testing H1000 and RL26, but haven't completed my tests yet so I can't recommend any load/bullet for now.
