I recently got a tikka t3x arctic. It has beautiful iron sights but I like scopes. I want to mount a scope a cantilever mount clears the irons but is so high I have to rest my jaw line on the stock rather than solid cheek well. I would rather not take off the irons if I don't have to any suggestions?

It looks like some folks use a cantilever mount more similar to what is (was) used on AR’s to give clearance to the rear peep site.

Your gonna have to go taller to clear the rear site, so you may want to install an adjustable cheek rest if your keeping the rear site, I would

I used an eotech . The holo goes easily up to 200 and I mounted it right in front of the rear sight.

If you are serious about a scope, it makes no sense not remove the rear and front sight as otherwise you will have to mount a long eye relief scope or something mounted super high that will be uncomfortable.

I don't know if this helps but I got around the problem of a tall mount by using a heavily padded butt cuff (holds 6 rounds) which allowed me to use a comfortable cheek weld and hold spare ammo. You can get them in black, brown or camo. See Brownells website.

So you used a magnified holo can you be more specific

I am following the thread with interest, as I also have a T3X Arctic and would also like to add a scope.

Recoil mag did an article with a cantilever scope mount: cantilevered ZRODelta M4 mount

https://www.recoilweb.com/tikka-t3x-arctic-131608.html

Not cheap though (USD prices):

Steiner T5Xi 3-15×50 $2,275
ZRODelta DLOC M4X $279
Spartan 300 Bipod $395
Bradley Cheek Rest Elite Series $125

That article is not entirely accurate; the ZRODs front attachment hangs out in front of the Arctic's pic rail.

Notice how there're no pics of the front of the ZROD on the pic rail.

Having 1-1/2 of the 3 front pins outside the rail may be OK for a magazine article shilling products though.
