Just picked up a new T3X in 300 WSM and being new to Tikka - what do you Tikka owners recommend for a hunting scope mounting option? Pic Rail and Rings / Optilock bases and rings? Mounting a Burris Veracity 3-15 X50.

Cheers and thanks for any input.

I broke my last 2 sets of talley lightweight rings. That was my favorite for a while. Now I use either sportsmatch t084 or unknown munitions tikka specific rings. Both are rings that clamp onto the factory tikka dovetail on the top of the action.

I had a bad experience with talleys and have since switched to Hawkins Long Range Hybrid rings. They aren't cheap but are like a well built Talley. They have a new Featherlight ring that should be available for Tikkas in the new year as well.

That would be my two first choices too.

I am a firm believer of Spuhr products. If a Tikka has a factory mounted rail, leave it on as it is fitted well. Otherwise choose between Spuhr mounts that fit directly to the rail (think you need the T3X version for that) or fit a Spuhr rail. Then single of two piece Spuhr mounts. They are very well made. ...now Hakan better buy me a beer.

This. It only makes sense to use the holes for recoil pins and integrated rail on the T3x actions. The SM are great value.

I have used Talleys on everything including Tikkas, it is only recently that I have heard of them breaking, I might consider other options for heavier calibres but I would still use them on something like a 300WSM.

I agree with ipscshooters comments. I also like the PR Precision Stuff.

My T3X CTR came with a pic rail already installed. An it has been fantastic for trying different rings and swapping scopes around. All my rifles wear a rail for this exact reason. I recently testing a scope and it came with rings which made install a breeze on the rail.

Lots of options for rails lightweight and regular weight. I like PR Precisions stuff and need more.

If you want to mount right to the receiver and skip a rail the only one that I would consider a one piece that mounts to the tikka dovetail setup.

I also like the Burris rings with the plastic inserts they do great at aligning and not damaging scopes.

Just finished mounting a 4-12x40 with talley LW extra lows on a t3. They were very nice and true. The last set of 30mm I put on a kimber 84 were less impressive, had to ream them out with a lapping rod to make them round inside.

Another vote for talley. My coyote rig has a nightforce rail and vortex precision matched rings just to try something different but that's about 3 times the price
