Hey guys, looking to add another tikka to the vault. Looking for feedback from those with the t3x ctr in 223. How's everyone finding the accuracy? All of my tikkas are insanely accurate but I have to ask lol.

Also considering the varmint so feedback on that is also welcome.

The CTR .223 is very accurate . I only shoot the 75 / 77 grain bullets in mine to take advantage of the 8' twist and longer ranges . Typically , off a bipod , it shoots under .500 for 5 shot groups at 100M without much effort . In no wind conditions , it can do better with the right load . It only has a 20" barrel so velocity is lower compared to the 24" Varmint model . I have the SE model with the factory Tac A1 brake and the set trigger and it's worked flawlessly .

I have two of them, both very accurate with a variety of loads from 40gr to 77gr

The rifle is guaranteed to do sub moa 3 round groups. Mine has done 1.3moa 30 round groups

My Tikka t3x ctr 6.5 creedmoor with 24" barrel is an absolute laser. It also the SE model. I have been very happy with the Ctr, just like my T1x and super varmint.

I have a T3 CTRX, and it shoots just about everything as far as bullets go, up to 80 grain Sierra HPBT.

The twist rate is 1-8, and it shoots 45 grain bullets well, as long as they aren't pushed too fast.

It really prefers 77-80 grain bullets, but I can't get it to stabilize longer bullets such as the Sierra 90 grain Math Kings or other types of bullets of similar length.

They're strong and very accurate rifles. I don't think you will be disappointed.

There are after market magazines available for them, made with 3D printing machines. These mags only hold 6 rounds, but they're a quarter of the cost of Tikka mags.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the responses. Not a whole lot online in regards to the ctr in 233. Figured it would be just as good as every tikka out there. I keep going back and forth between the ctr and varmint. I will be dropping it into a krg brago chassis with AICS mags anyways so mags are not really part of the equation.

I have one I put in a MDT XRS chassis.
It will shoot out a bullseye at 100 with a 10 shot group. Just 1 big ragged hole.
5" group at 500 yards.

I've got both. You shouldn't be disappointed with either rifle.

Superb gun, no hand loading required. Mine shot Hornady Black 75gr. BTHP's incredibly well, but not the highly frangible varmint bullets I needed it to. Wasn't overly surprised mind you, but if it had done well I'd have welcomed the lighter weight/more compact rifle for the job.

Got a varmint instead, but boy can the CTR shoot. Shot a buddy's years ago in .223 as well=exactly the same, and the same bullet weight preference.

I just picked up a tikka ctr 20" barrel 1:8 twist for christmas, and I've just started doing a few load developments with it, starting with frangible bullets and I'll tell you what, give hornady 60gr vmax a try with H322, varget or benchmark powder max charge weights and it's under 1/2" groups at 100meters! COAL length 2.260", other one I have trouble finding performace from is the nosler 55gr varmageddon still shoots under 1" at 100m but nothing like the 60gr vmax!

I picked up a ctr 223 for christmas and I've been very impressed with it so far, only have had time to take it out three times now, but it's an absolute laser beam with the hornady 60gr vmax with max charge weight of varget, H322, or benchmark powders for me, under 1/2" groups at 100m! I went with the ctr model because I've have owned a ctr 308 for about 5 years now and absolutely love it, and it's a tack driver, so I knew I couldn't go wrong with a 223 model

I'm somewhat on the fence about the CTR, it has the same barrel as the TAC A1, which is good, lots of accessories avail for it, also good. Some aftermarket mags around for it, not that I've had any issue with the Tikka mags. I'd certainly go with the NDr mags, were I to need any more, over the cheapie 3d printed ones ( have a couple, haven't used them yet, they are CHEAP).
But, I'm more tempted to go with the heavier barrels on the varmint and ACE, ACE is a good deal, even at 2400.00, although at a high 10lbs, it's still a bit light for range work, heavy for the field. Always thought the CTR was in that boat too, too light, and too heavy, depending on what you want to do with it. And I look at the varmint or super varmint, consider the stock, think it shud be replaced, then look back at the ACE again, it's got a pile of good features.
