Tikka T3x CTR, any opinions?

Tikka has introduced a new magazine specifically for the CTR that will be significantly cheaper, the difference being it has a plastic boot the will not allow it to be used in the TRG without modification.

Will this mag definitely work with the TRG if modified? Is it still going to be ridiculously expensive or reasonable, as in under $100?

Affordable mags would make the TRG way more appealing to me.

Al Flahertys is currently offering them for $189.00, haven't checked other vendors.

I don't know how difficult it would be to either remove or cut down the plastic boot.
Perhaps someone else can chime in.

Handled a new one. Didn't love it. Too light for my intended use of mostly target shooting. Handled a new 700 tactical and the stock was possibly the worst I've felt. Action was not precise feeling at all. Settled on a used cz550 varmint in the b&c stock. Absolutely no comparison! The cz is substantially more rifle. Quite a bit heavier too though. There's a lot better values out there. I didn't feel the tikka was $500 better than the 700.

They are designed as a light tactical rifle ideally being used by law enforcement snipers who don't need a massive heavy rifle for their role where the overwhelming majority of LEO sniper work around the world occurs within an engagement distance of sub 75m. The standard Tactical or Super Varmint are the ones more suited for a dedicated long range target rifle with the longer heavier barrels and adjustable comb height.
