Just ordered one today in 223 with the 1 in 8 twist. Going to start with some Hornady Precision Hunter 73 grain ELD bullets, any other suggestions as I won’t be reloading yet. Just using for targets for now.
 
I have the Tikka T3x Varmint in 223 and loved shooting: Hornady Centerfire Custom Ammunition, 55 grain. once sighted in, I switched to cheap Remington and still shot great!
 
Cant help with factory fodder - but...

If and when you start reloading, I would try 77 and 80 gr SMK's - you'll get some surprising distance with that rig - but if shooting under 400, the 69smk is a good choice - somewhere between 24.5 - 25.5 gr Varget and a 69 SMK is money in most rifles. Lapua Scenar 69's were a touch better in my Tikka than the SMK...
 
When reloading for my 223 tikka I used 77 smk's with good results. The 80 grain worked well too but I had to single load as they won't fit in a stock unmodified mag.

The regular Varmint in 223 is $1350 at Cabela's (23 3/4" barrel), if you don't mind, what did you pay for the Super Varmint (and barrel length/trigger?), which I believe the main differences are the picatinny rail and cheek riser (please correct me if I am wrong). Thanks.

Hello gang, my 1st post on CGN.
I too would like to know the going rate for this rifle as I am interested in purchasing a T3x Super Varmint in 223, 510mm (20”) barrel length.
Can’t seem to find one in my area.

Welcome to CGN. You sure picked a tough one to find. Call Al Flaherty's and talk to them. They seem to carry more Tikka's than most.
 
I just got new toy also,just loaded up a few boxes Win.model 70 in super short magnum in 223 cal ps bull barrel hope to get some shooting in when that white stuff gone,used speer target match 52 grain bullet vel 3639,the rifle will do 4,700 ft per second ,I do not want to burn barrel so I ill keep it down,Happy shooting Guys,Steven
