I have the Tikka Tactical in 308. What i would like to know are the tikka T3 clips interchangable. I would like to use a longer bullet and do not want to go single shot. This i my first Tikka so i have no knowledge here.
The original clip does not look like it can be easily worked on. If another tikka T3 clip can be used so i could lengthen out the round, which one would it be.

How about picking up a new Mag the same as you have and using a dremel to remove material from the front of it which would allow you to load longer. This way you still have an original untouched if you wish to sell in the future.

Personally I don't wat to pick up a new mag because they're about a hundred bucks each!
If you do this, you have to dremel out material at the back. I'm in the same boat with my .223, I need 0.25" to clear my handloads.

They are interchangeable from the limited experimenting I have done, so maybe a 30-06 clip would work for the 308 ...

Take your rifle & a handload bullet into the shop and ask to see a T3 in '06, then try the mag in yours. Probably not a good idea to check if it feeds while you're in the store ... :p

As far as I'm aware, all of the T3 Series of mags are interchangable. If you want to use longer bullets, get a mag for a .30-06, it will fit the rifle fine.
All Tikka T3 Actions are the same length, from .223 to .300 win mag, there is no short or long action. You might have to change the bolt stop as well to give you the longer travel for the longer cartridge.

The Tikka Tactical IS a T3... All t-3 magazines designed to hold ammo of similar length and bolt face will work. The tik-tac has a 5 round mag, many t-3s have 3 rounders though.

I'm still looking for an extended length .223 mag for my Tic-Tac. My 80g Sierras load out at 2.5" OAL, the mag is sized for about 2.3" max length. Maybe one day I'll try the dremel thing but it looks like a hell of a lot of work in tight quarters.

There was a guy on here that modified one of the .223 mags, but it involves drilling out the little 'nibs' on the mag, and serious epoxy work. It's hollow behind the 'back' of the mag, so you need to create a new back plate to allow for longer OAL rounds.

Sounds like it IS possible, but messy, and pricey if you screw up.

I wish I could find that post, because I'd love to try that on some of my 6 round T3 mags!

I mean, what good is a 1-8" twist if the longest round you can use is a 62 grn?

DAMN IT when is someone gonna make a steel aftermarket mag for T3's? Does Tikka have some sort of legal restriction for aftermarket mags to be made? what is the hold up?
