Tikka upgrades?

I have owned many Tikkas, shot literally 1000s of rounds through them. Never once was a factory magazine a problem for me. Upgrades or changes I have made are...bottom metal, trigger springs, complete trigger assemblies, stocks/chassis, barrels, bolt handles, bolt shrouds, recoil lugs, Cerakote. Pretty much covers it.

My current three Tikka setups....

T3X Lite SS, 7mm-08, all factory no mods.
T3 Varmint, 260 Rem with factory barrel, MDT Elite muzzle brake, German Gun Stock, Trigger Spring, 20 MOA rail, factory bottom metal and mags--wanting to try PR Precision bottom metal for factory mags.
T3X, started as a Lite SS in 243, now wears an IBI Carbon Pre Fit in 243, sits in a MDT Carbon HNT 26 chassis, 20 MOA rail, trigger spring, bolt handle.

I’m gonna get a new trigger spring for it. But as for the cerakote and stock, it’s already a super good looking gun. If I’m going to change a stock on any of my rifles, it’s going to be my Remington 700 Coyote gun. I think that one has a bright future ahead of it with some serious customization.
 
Honestly nothing. I have shot quite a few and own a T1X and T3X both in left hand.

They are both running CTR stocks with the pistol grip and the wider forends, They also have Mountain tactical arca rails attached (direct bolt on) an Yo Dave triggers. I do want to upgrade the recoil lug on the centerfire as it will be custom barreled in 338rcm shortly and the might have a little grunt behind it.

At this point the only thing I am considering are more about aesthetics like new bolt Knobs and maybe a cheek riser unit.

Trigger spring was a great upgrade and cheap and easy. It has to be one of the best factory triggers. Changed to an aluminum bottom metal that takes factory mags from coretac solutions. They are great rifles. I have the alpine in 7mm. I got bored more than anything and replaced the stock to a bell and carlson and got a carbon fibre wrapped ibi barrel. Gains from that was marginal considering the cost but i love how it is. I did find my groups open quickly just after 3-4 shots but in all seriousness that is not much an issue on a hunting rifle. The IBI settled that quite a bit but im no better than 0.75moa with my current load it can just do that with 5 and 10 shot groups now.

This is why when I sold off my Tikka's I bought a Savage Axis not the coolest gun on the rack but it shoots beyond it's price point with a commercial spring brought down the trigger pull to 3 pounds

I'll take the tikka all day over any savage axis,I've seen too many issues with those pieces of junk,one guy at the range had less than a box fired and the bolt broke locking the rifle up.I don't care how accurrate it is ,if it's not reliable it's useless.ive yet to see a good one out of all Thr guys I know that bought them,one still has his and it's the one that broke .

I have one tikka t3lite in .308 that shoots better than my skills set that's the best shooting ,most accurrate rifle I've ever owned,and I've had my share of almost everything made except Tyd ruger no 1s.
 
I don't feel any need to "improve" the trigger; I think it's just fine for a hunting rifle, especially if to be used in cold weather. I like the B&C stocks, better ergos but mostly cosmetic. I also like an aluminum bottom metal replacement; I cracked one of the plastic ones once, although it continued to be just fine for a year or two until I replaced it with an Atlasworks unit.

I sometimes worry a wee bit about the aluminum lug in the B&C stock, but the one in my .243 looks like new. With a bigger cartridge? Hmmm...
 
The best upgrade is more quality range time learning how to comfortably and accurately and efficiently shoot the rifle.

Possibly an apprenticeship on a T1x before jumping straight to a T3x could be a good idea too. Stay humble!

The Wildcat on my newest Tikka is by far the best upgrade I’ve done to them. Very light and stiff.
