Was in WholeSale sports on Wed Oct 21 Great service technician Shawn told me about the site. I am looking at a new rifle in 300 Win Mag. i am right handed but shoot left so I need a clip. I want stainless. I have tried both the tikka and browning with boss and Shawn mentioned about problems with boss. has anyone shot both guns? any advice? pros/ cons? Problems? also looking to scope this gun Shawn suggested nikon prostaff cheap enough but how reliable?

Get the Tikka, or you'll be wishing you did. Better get a Limbsaver recoil pad while you're at it if you're planning to get a 300WM. My T3 S/S in .270 shoots under 3/4" at 100yd with factory ammo, and handloads?...:D

Tikka! Definitely!!
The Prostaff is good quality and will probably do fine but I'd opt for a Monarch if going Nikon or a VXII or VX III Leupold. You will definitely be pleased with either.

Not a Browning fan myself.

I have a few Tikka T3 LS rifles....great shooters. Same with a few friends also.

As mentioned, go with a Leupold VX2 3-9x40. Others sugestions would be Bushnell Elite 3200 and Burris.

"...right handed but shoot left so I need a clip..." You need a left handed rifle with a detachable magazine. Neither Tikka's nor Brownings use 'clips'. Both make a SS left hand action.
The LH Browning Stalker runs around $1040. $965.00 for a T3 Lite SS. Buy the one that feels better to you.

Are Tikka's made of plastic?

On the lites, the stock (otherwise wood or laminate), a shroud on the bolt, the detachable magazine, and I've forgotten if the trigger guard is plastic (??). Anyhow, its a great rifle. I have one in 308 and its very accurate, light, bolt moves liked greased lightening, and the trigger is perfect for a field gun. Its a keeper.

'Thanks the Wholesale sports is in Saskatoon. You should visit this guy
He liked the Tikka, and already have permission!!! How would you scope it 3x9 x40?

I am looking for a clip and Husky doesn't make one so being right handed but shooting left I need no probably wnat a clip. Have a browning blr 30-06 now but blued and is getting pretty weathered looking from all the wilderness trips, so thought S/S

I had a Tikka 3 lite. The gun shot well but I didn't like it because of the way it carried. I found the balance to way off and after a time in the woods it was very tiresome despite it's light weight. too light in the rear end makes the barrel seem too heavy for a walk up hunting gun. I too am not a big fan of Brownings except for a Micro-Medallion in 7mm-08 that I once owned. I recently started a search for a new deer rifle and finally setteled on a Browning x-bolt on 270. Find it to be a very well balanced gun at 6.25 lbs (stalker model) and it shoots (suprise) a 1 hole 3 shot group at 100 yds with Federal Premium Boat tails 14grn Game Kings. The bolt btw, is just as smooth as my Tikka.
Cheers, John

Tikka is the way to go. I have a T3 Lite in 7mm-08 and could not be more impressed. I was weary of the plastic but have had no issues what so ever. As Far as glass goes, in my opinon money spent on good glass is seldom wasted. I have a Schmidt and Bender 3-12x42 on my T3, that my be a bit overkill but so far I haven't missed with it at anything under 500m. A good 3-9 Leupold with a good set of rings should do quite nicely. Tikka also makes left handed rifles if that interests you.
