Tikka vs Sako

some people look at guns as tools, in which case tikka is a great value... whereas others look at guns as if they were a work of art, in which case they can find the extra costs justified due to the craftsmanship that went into them. either will be fine for hunting, accuracy is not all that it is cracked up to be when shooting at large game with pie plate sized vitals. buy the one that satisfies YOUR needs.:D

Tikka's are built for accuracy and cut cost on plastic mags, bolts shrouds and trigger guards that have nothing to do with being a solid shooting rifle.
My Tikka T3 lite shot as well if not better then my Sako 75 and cost me $600 less. From my saving on the Tikka I was able to mount a Zeiss Conquest and purchase rings.
I like a nice rifle but I get out there and hunt. Lots of times my rifle is dinged on rock while shooting prone or scratched while crossing a barbed fence. Some guys like their costly rifles so much they spend their life in a safe or if they do take it out they get all pissed when they ding it on something.
I have since sold my Tikka T3 and really regret it, my safe safe is full of Remingtons. At least the gunsmith is happy knowing I have a safe of Remingtons.

Cheers!!

I have the Tikka T3 Tactical and though it's the most expensive Tikka (around $1,600) it's still cheaper than the Sakos. But it will probably beat any Sako (except the TRGs) in accuracy.

I own both a 2004 Tikka T3 in 223 and a 1973 (approx. to the best of my memory) Sako L579 in 22-20. In my mind there is no comparision. The Sako wins hands down on everything except accuracy. It's a tie which one is more accurate.
BTW, the Sako has approximately 20,000 rounds through the action. The trigger set at 1 lb and has never been adjusted since day one. The Tikka is coming up on 7000 rounds.
Stated quite simply the Sako is a far better action.
