tikka vs savage

I have 2 Tikka rifles and have shot someone elses savage. In my opinion, the savage was substandard to my Tikka rifles. I have other rifles as well, but I wouldnt even consider buying a savage after shooting one. It looked nice enough, but made me think " you get what you pay for".

Tikka is my preference, I haven't owned the 110, but I have owned a Savage with an accutrigger. I like the Tikka trigger better and you will probably be hooked once you cycle the action a few times. Undoubtedly, both a capable of good groups, and you may very well be happy with the Savage, but my vote is Tikka all the way.

Savage Stocks

On all of my savages with pastic stocks i have had to do alittle work. On a hot day the stocks would move left or right and touch the barrel. I just took the stocks off and took about a 1/4" off both sides. Thats all it took to fix the problem.

I bought a Tikka (223) because it had a detachable magazine. It took 1500 rounds before it would shoot 4" at 100 yards. Ran a bazillion different loads through it and finally ended up using one of the loads that it would not shoot in the first place. The barrel rings if you load it to warm (anything over 2900fps). It will be my last Tikka even though the bugs are worked out of it now.

I bought a savage 10fp and it was shooting pop cans at 400 yards on the fourth shot. It is a heavy barrel and a 308 and I have never had to do a thing to it yet other than set the scope up on the first day out and its routine cleaning.

Now I know that comparing a 308 heavy barrel to a 223 sporter barrel is not all that fair, that is unless you consider the fact that the Tikka 223 has a $1200 scope on it and the 308 Savage has a $200 scope on it.

I don't have any experience with tika but I love my savage model 12FVSS .223 .. Factory ammo it shoots 3/4" at 100y. Just got started reloading and my first batch is showing good results..
