Yup ... they can get that big ... those shown above would probably be in the upper reaches of the trophy sizes, but I don't have a problem believing those pictures are authentic.

The original question reminds me of a cartoon I saw long ago that showed two guys sitting on the edge of a platform on stilts in a swamp with a shack built on it. They are looking behind themselves at a chain of alligators that have formed an alligator tail-to-mouth chain up one stilt on the platform, and another alligator was climbing the chain onto the platform. One guy says, "There's no way alligators can do that, right?"

It is what it is.

my buddies brother shot one last fall in B.C. interior that was 220# .it had taken out a good number of their calves .I have no trouble at all believing these pics as i seen the email with pics of his wolf

The top 3 are real for sure. First time I've seen the others but there is nothing to suggest they aren't.

Those are all pics from outfitters showcasing the biggest and best... A couple were actually from an outfitter I go to... They are authentic... Not quite sure why folks would think otherwise... Picture yourself holding up a large german shepard... Wolves are bigger

I've seen mounted full body timber wolves. I'm 5'10" and if I were to hold them the ass would be on the ground and their head over my shoulder. So yes they can get big. The fur also makes them look larger. I've seen videos of wolves taking down a bull moose and the dogs were almost as long as the bull moose

Hmmmm. Boy, these guys are tough...must be from Alberta...hehe.

Anyone ever tried picking up a 200 lbs+ deer like that? Not me...I'll pose kneeling down behind it.

I know there are some decent large mature ones out there...but that big????

You'll kill a hundred to get one over 120 pounds. I laugh at all the "200" pound ones shot. Trappers kill and stack wolves like cord wood around here and I've never seen one over 140 that was weighed on an actual scale.

Life in the wild is hard. Most don't get that big because they don't get enought to eat and live long enough, but the ones that do, and get killed by humans, get their pictures taken and posted on the interweb.

Average size 80-120pounds, but they way the've decimated the elk and deer population around here in the last couple years, I can believe it. The biggest I've seen in person was taken on our old trapline in swan hills, I was just a kid but confirmed with the old man it was 160lb male
