Hi CGNers! Im looking to put together a 7.62x51 battle rifle. I was looking at the Norc 305's on Marstar. I like to investigate a weapon befor I invest. I havnt been able to find any reviews for the 305's using the search menu. Anyways i was hoping that I could get some feedback on the weapons performance. I understand she isnt gonna stack up to an american m14, but i dont have the cash to spare currently for somthing like a Springfield M1A1, or the Kel Tec RFB. Pictures would really float my boat too. Thnx

Buy a nice Norc 305 on the EE and save some cash .. they are a great rifle and easy to upgrade to US parts if you want ..

this whole forum is predominantly dedicated the M14s/M305 and full of folks willing to offer thier insight and experiences with these rifles. This alone is review enough as far as i can tell. By and large, they do stand up against a rack grade m14 with some exceptions as we are talking about chinese quality control. If you like to tinker, tune and tweak, buy one of these rifles, from a dealer you get a warranty.... or on the EE you can get a good deal. Or spend a bit more and get one that is already "tweaked" a little.
fun rifles, I hunt with mine and blast targets..... can't seem to get enough of them really hehehe

Lots of good info here, thumb through the forums and you'll learn lots, by the way stop refering to it as a 'weapon' unless your taking it to the 'stan....good luck

M14 has a huge Canadian following and a ton of aftermarket parts. Many parts are made and distributed right here in Canada. From stocks, brakes, bolt releases, sights and almost everything else.

Hell there is a rumor a Canadian company is going to make a flat top receiver ;)

I don't see how for 499 you can go wrong.

(PS, a riffle is a firearm. It only becomes a weapon if you use it against humans, the same as a hammer or baseball bat);)

weapon (wep′ən)

noun

1.an instrument or device of any kind used to injure or kill, as in fighting or hunting
2.any organ or part of an organism used for attacking or defending
3.any means of attack or defence

Refraining from calling a firearm what it is "a weapon" only perpetuates the idea that by simple owning a "weapon" you are a crimal who will use it against humans in criminal activity. I live rurally and shoot paper as much as I shoot animals and livestock on my property. Neither a hammer, nor a baseball bat where designed as weapons. As such when it is time to slaugher a cow, or go hunting I choose an appropriate weapon...30-06. Humans have been using weapons since the dawn of time. I don't plan to stop.

Thanks for the responses regarding the Norc m14, much appreciated. I will continue to read the other threads and collect info on it.

Careful Diabolus, in Canada you have a priviledge to own firearms as tools (of sport, of recreation - ie: including hunting, and sustenance hunting). You do NOT have a right, let alone a priviledge, to own a firearm for self-defence.

Don't take me the wrong way; I don't actually disagree with your *view*, I am simply pointing out that if you own something in this country expressly for the purpose of self-defence, you're in the wrong when it comes to the current law/interpretation.

Interesting read, if you're keen: http://www.cufoa.ca/articles/armes/armes_7_may_2008.html

A real M14 is a select fire, prohibited firearm, anyway. Sadly, so is a real M14 that has been converted to semi-auto only. As are most other battlerifles. So your options are limited.
"...something like a Springfield M1A1..." The M1A isn't an M14 either. Expensive, built with cast receivers, civilian, sporting rifle.
Anyway, if you've never fired an M1A/M305/M14S, they're quite pleasant to shoot. Very little felt recoil and accurate enough, out of the box. Target rifles they ain't without some upgrades though.

I hate how everythings legal semantics. and shades of grey. So its not a weapon because the government says so? Oh Canada. I stand corrected. Thanks for the link. Im always keen for a good read. Cheers

It isn't a weapon until it is used as a weapon. We don't like weapons around here... Weapons get seized, firearms we're allowed.

There are very knowledgeable people around here, and a very large gang of excellent shooters and hunters. The semantics only matter because of all the PS BS, too true, but we need to play within the rules of the playground if we want to keep our tools.

I like my tools and my playground so I play by the rules.

Please don't think I was correcting you out of malice. I and everyone else understood where you are comming from. It is that we live with the grievous errors of the past done by the liberal. Until they are undone we must be vigilant in our language lest our enemies use it against us.

Yes, you need to be considerate of the Liberal's here on CGN!!:jerkit:

If you cow to PC you condone it! (cow- from which is derived the word "coward")
:runaway:

Sorry I brought it up.

This forum is one of the few places on cgn that does not have bs flame fests for the most part.

Lets get back to the awesomeness that is the m14 !

You all know if the Norris had to chose 2 firearms to take into battle, both would be an m14:D

yup..... most of us here have loose enough knickers to not care what you call yer rifle.......
don't sweat it, just enjoy it ;)
