sorry not trying to poke fun kel tec are good cheap guns ans it is great that they are coming to canada. But dont play us for fools.
I understand that you don't feel the Canadian purchase price is a good value for you. So, spend your money elsewhere.
But, I resent your portrayal of myself and anyone else who is willing to pay the Canadian retail price for an RFB as fools. If you read through the last couple of years worth of posts regarding the RFB, you will see many posts from many board members explaining why they want to buy this particular gun. It has a unique set of features that no other gun in Canada offers. If I want to acquire the non-restricted Canadian version, the only legal option that I am aware of is to pay the asking price. I can afford the higher Canadian purchase price and given my intended use for this rifle, the RFB's unique features will make enough of a difference for me to feel that I received value for my money.
Weather or not someone south of the border can buy this gun for half the Canadian price is irrelevant. The price here in Canada is what it is. If you want one, pay the price. If you don't want one, move along.
As to why I am content to pay the higher price so that I can get an RFB: Have you ever had a rifle slung over your shoulder as you tried to stealthily walk through brush only to have the barrel catch a small branch and cause a loud "SNAP" sound? That has happened to me and I don't mind spending some extra money to reduce the chance that it will happen again. Or, how about hiking into an area where many people don't like hunters (or don't even know what hunting is) resulting in them making phone calls to report "I just saw some guy with a gun barrel poking out of his backpack!". That has not happened to me, but it did happen to some acquaintances of mine and it ruined their weekend hunting trip. I'm not saying that an RFB is a magical gun that will change the game when it comes to hunting, but it has some features with real world benefits that some of us really want.
You have decided that the mark up on this rifle is so extreme that it would be foolish to purchase one, implying that there are better values to be had. I won't dispute that for a lot less money you can buy something like a LE or M14 and head out hunting. But, for some of us the RFB scratches an itch that no other gun in Canada can scratch, making it just as much of a value to us as a LE, M14, etc would be to someone like you.
Anyway, I find it insulting for you to imply that I am foolish for my willingness to spend my money to scratch an itch that you don't share or that you are willing to tolerate/ignore.
