Well I was at the Buffalo Gun Centre yesterday, and got to handle one of the Sub 2000's with the 9mm Glock mags. I must say I was not really impressed. It felt really cheap, and is made almost entirely out of plastic. The length of pull is very short, and not adjustable, and I don't have long arms and I am only about 5' 10". There also doesnt seem to be any way to attach optics to it, which is another downfall if you ask me. If this thing is restricted and is just a range toy I dont need it to fold up, id rather have optics. If it does come in non restricted then yes it could be cool for backpacking and camping, as it does fold up quite nice. Now they are selling this thing for $379 and for that price I could see buying one, but If it ends up being anything upwards of 600 dollars, I will probably not be interested

the length of pull can be resolved with a butstock extender and the optics mounting solution is available for the sub 2000. see kel-tecs website they have all the accessories to solve your problems and more.

but i do agree with the plastic, it just seems cheap and i personally prefer something with some weight to it (if its not a backpacking rifle) when i look for a rifle.

the su16 is what I will likely be waiting for, but if this thing pans out with the the 20 round m14 mags i will probably be getting one of those.

From what I understand, their light weight does cause them to kick a little more.

Nothing wrong with the plastic IMO because they do seem to be using it in a similar manner to how plastic is used on modern power tools (IE as housing and grip material).

Well I am concerned more for the price point here guys, a good friend is on the list for a SUB and RFB and he has had it hinted to him by the dealer the SUB might be a G note. THis is straight from him last night on the phone. If it comes in over 500 bucks I am getting a nother Storm and getting the barrel swap to non-res. Cannot compare the two guns at that price at all, especially if the LOP becomes an issue with my monkey arms. I want a .40 or .45 for my new permanent bush gun but not at that price. I hope they price them right as I want one for sure.

umm yea a 300-400 dollar us rifle will NOT sell for more than 600 dollars here, at least it wont be sold to me. you have to be really desperate or and idiot to pay that much. if i want one il get it from the us and bring it in myself. or just bring my businuess elsewhere.

You do realise that one you buy from a store in the states won't have an 18.5 inch barrel, don't you?

Just saying.

yea just thought of that after the fact. well i guess il just have to buy a different AFFORDABLE rifle then. im tired of getting ripped right the F*$% off all the time just because we are in canada, you cant blame it on the dollar.

All i want is an affordable "black" rifle for fun plinking, and small game hunting that takes ar mags. is that so much to ask given todays buyers market?

I'd absolutely love to see more affordable black rifles up here. Unfortunately, it seems until the SU-16 comes in, there's not a lot of choice for cheap (around $1000+/-) non restricted semi-auto black rifles that take AR mags. The only other game in town in that meets all those requirements would be the CSA VZ-58 in 5.56mm, at least once the magwell adaptors for them come out. Hell, times used to be that the AR-180B was the only gun on the market that fit that description, but now that they're discontinued the used prices have jumped; and then there was the prospect of the Type 97 (until the RCMP f**ked us over on that one).

Regarding something in a pistol cal., even at $600+, the sub-2000 would still be the cheapest non restricted "black" PCC on our market, since Hi-Point won't make the 995TS with longer barrels.

And yes, I also do agree that we do seem to pay out the @$$ for being buyers in Canada. Unfortunately, a lot of it is because the importers have to pay for things like export licences and changes to designs to make them both non restricted here and USDOS export compliant. Then you also have to factor in that the dealers have to make some sort of profit on them if they want to remain in business. We do get screwed over on prices here, but it's the fault of the process these guns have to go through to get here more than anything.

true. but just think, if the sub 2000 is more than double its original price, whats going to stop the su16a2 from being double or more what its original price in the us is? the rfb (if it stays at the 2500 mark) will be the most efficiently priced rifle of the batch, and the most expensive..

ps have you also noticed how the ar180b prices in the EE have dropped like a thousand dollars recently? haha they are almost half way to fairly priced! lol

I'm hoping that it isn't the case, but you never know. Unfortunately, I guess we're going to have to wait to find out.:(

True. I'm just glad I grabbed mine when they were still coming in.;)

Well, other than the gas block moving out of alignment a couple of times, which was due to the fact that she's got a custom free float handguard that the previous owner put on her, she's never skipped a beat. The only thing I didn't like was the crappy trigger that came standard on them, but since she uses an AR trigger, a simple upgrade to a 2 stage trigger worked wonders.

I think (hope?) we'll be treated fairly....:yingyang:...the non-restricted version of the Benelli 5.56 mm seems to be retailing here for prices close to what it goes for in the U.S. ....

According to Steve at Vault there is no pre order list for the RFB and he hasn't even released the list of authorised dealers yet.

If you ask Steve he'll give you some dealers he is in negotiations with, and some of these retailers will put you on a pre-order if they're doing one.. problem is none of the retailers know how many they're receiving, or truly what the final price is going to be other than what it 'should be'!!!

They don't need to ban the double down. It'll disappear on its own. Bought one to try and it was disappointing to say the least. Like eating a salt sandwich. Had a sodium headache that took four Tylenol to get rid of!

OK, so it wasnt just me. Had one on the weekend. I was ready to drink out of the aquarium I was so thirsty. Never again!

I hope the SU16 does a better job living up to the hype! ;)

Is it me or is the double-down just puny? As for the SU16, price is king. The dollar is pretty well even (I know there is more to it than that). Is is just that prices don't seem to come down much ever with the exception of a few dealers here. I remember seeing the AR180B for $600 stateside only to have it double here.
