22 Hornet 218 Bee, 30-30, .303 British, 38-55, 9.3X74R, 45-70 fit and function wonderfully in the Ruger #1.
220 Swift semi rimless works as well
Other rimless classic such as the 6mm Rem, 6.5x55,7x57, 300 H&H 9.3x62 , .375 H&H , .405 Win , 416 Rigby add to the classy classic cast.
Shoot it and enjoy or pass it on to another.

yeah i took it out hunting the other arvo man an they really do feel well in the hand!!! it has a 2-7x33 loopy on it that is set fair forward as they do but its acually pretty good to shoulder too!
i think i will use it but just be sensible with it, not abuse it an it will serve well!
This is the one issue with the No. 1; the scopes have to be mounted a bit far forward. In addition, most scopes available today have a short tube which limts mounting options. I use an old Bushnell 4x Scopechief on mine because the longer tube lets me mount the scope comfortably. A new Leupold I bought for the rifle, ended up on another rifle because it was just too short to work on this one.

We know that bit. Just like gettin' a Rem 40 XR Sporter. Unique, accurate & fun, but not cheap.
Eager to see yer .303 hunt vid WL.
The Tripod, adjustable hiking poles have turned up, just waiting on Bino adapter for Tripod but can get out bush tomorrow for first sit an wait hunt in a while. looking forward to hitting the hills for a big day saturday aswell!

I had one of the batch that Prophet River brought in. Very accurate, pretty wood, but wish Ruger had gone with a longer barrel. Sold it to a buddy.

It’s a Ruger production rifle and a good one, it’s built to be hunted, and will do that for multiple generations worth of use. No sense owning things you don’t use, so if it’s not hunting for you, won’t have trouble finding a buyer for whom it will.
Well down here they seem to be askin a fair price for the 303 sporter and many are sitting on the 2nd hand gun websites still, i never had much more than a few tyre kickers when previously advertising it for sale.. it seems the 303 british Ruger 1 model is fairly dead in the water in many parts of the world due to the fact of the dreaded big bores an modern offerings .
on a side note i have hunted mine this weekend, another walk around tomorow might yeild some results but many deer seen too far to shoot..
had a round stick in the chamber so had to shoot it to release it...
barrels clean.
