Time To Join The .416 Club. Battle of the .416

It’s a pretty tough decision. I know I like the CZ but part of me what’s to try another rifle platform especially since the .416 Rigby CZ 550 lost one of its benefits which was magazine capacity. In a perfect world, I’d just buy all three. I won’t be buying until sometime December unless a heck of a deal pops up before then. Most of the time that’s the final deciding factor. The plus to the CZ is I think it will be a lot easier to find a used one while the other two might be a lot less common.

Since the avowed goal is to inflict more punishment to your shoulder that the 375 H&H does, which I take to mean "significantly more punishment", there is only one choice among the three cartridges that you mention: the 416 Rigby. The other two options register barely above the 375 H&H in terms of recoil.

Believe better results are had with 416 on game than 375 have not got anything with 458 as believe the bullets might be a little tough(even hornady 500 interlocks) for expansion on smaller game. Advantage with 375 might be trajectory

I think a 375 cal solid would out penetrate a 416 solid based on my recovered 400 gr bullets that I ran lengthwise up a buffalo courtesy of my Ruger RSM 416 Rigby.

Keep looking, the bullets in there somewhere.

458 and wild boar worked very good and not that much damage on the meat than a 300 win mag, the 460 wea on the other side is not made for wild boar if you want to keep the meat and not using fmj bullets.

most of the solid will have done the same will it be 9.3x62 to 458 ... at least my experiences with savannah and dwarf buffaloes ...

Yeah I think Craig gave up on the 460 Ruger and 200 grain soft points.
Here's a good video that shows what can go wrong and generally will.
https://dmsafaris.com/

We hunted with Diekie Muller a few years back. Great fellow and as professional as they come.
What surprised me most is Boddington actually went handgun after writing extensively on safari rifles.

craig will change his mind on who will pay more and will change his tune on the gear and caliber ... not that long ago he favored the cz550 now using the r8 ... some writers will do everything to be fair he is not one of those on my opinion ...

He ditched the hand cannon pretty quick and was packing the CZ at the end of the video.
No doubt knowing he had botched it badly trying to showcase his sponsor Hornady.
Diekie was using a 416 Rigby in a Ruger Number 1 when we visited. Not sure what caliber his double is in the video but I’m sure he was happy to have the second barrel available this time.

To me the cz550 is just not a nice handling rifle. They just seem to big and clunky to handle fast. Id choose the m70 even though the rigby has the cool factor.
Ive been putting off building a 416 as other things keep popping up but after long hours of debate i chose 416 taylor. Id take my 458wm to africa when i go so im not worried about headstamps and the taylor will do everything i need and more for moose and bear and can be assembled cheaply and used hard as a hunting gun and not worry about resale values.
If you want more thump 416 wby could be addd to your list
