[/IMG]I know another thread showing off pics, but its time to show them off, and some where.

It never came with a bayonet unfortunately. For the flares I've only seen them online and mostly on American sites. I bought an adapter to shoot 12 gauge flares. Margo supplies online has 12 gauge flares and cracker flares. Haven't used the flare gun yet, but it was just to good of a deal to pass up.

What kind of flare gun is that? And where can I buy one?
Nice collection by the way. My red collection also currently stands at 2 rifles.
P.S. Your SVT appears to be in pristine shape. How does it shoot?

So why the "red" collection reference? Looks like a Chinese SKS and maybe a Polish flare gun. Nice "milsurps" collection though.

Sino-soviet alliance resulting in the Mosin-Nagant M44 (Type 53), TT-33 (Type 51 & 54), SKS 45 (Type 56) among others being manufactured for China by the Russians, then supervising Chinese manufacturing and then letting them go it on their own. Not even a stretch to call them "Red rifles".

Poland, same deal, part of Warsaw pact, fielding some Russian designed arms.

Its a Check flare gun dated from the early forties. I bought it from Tradexx. Price was $99 plush shipping. Thanks on the Svt the condition is pretty good it shoots good, the barrel is in great shape. The rifle is a 1941 Tula with scope rails.

Thanks bp2626 you answered that more accurately than I could of. :)

Nice Type 56! Looks like part of the bayo lug has been cut off (?)

I don't think its been cut off, can't see any marks on the barrel. Ive had the rifle for over ten years now. I dont know any of the previous history of the rifle. Wish I did, but that's how it goes.

Yeah, it may have been a very clean cut and then re blued.
Yours is missing the pointed bayo retainment/attachment where the screw is inserted to secure the bayo.

Here's my two Chicoms for comparison:

After looking at the rifle, you guys are probaly right, the bayonet lug has been cut off. Also the magazine on my rifle is shorter than most. What are your thoughts, been cut to fit canadain laws? Or just the way it came from factory as civilian model for export?

Your lastest photos are not visible, and I didn't see a mag in the first picture but I assumed it was just removed...

Yes good now. Looks like the same person made the mag more streamline by removing some material from the mags body as well. A lip was then formed to catch the mag release.
I'm guessing the mag is not pinned, or not pinned anymore, and simply only has room for the maximum 5 rounds. Correct?

These are the Norinco made SKS's. Either modified existing Type 56 military or later SKS copies made by Norinco for the Western market. Norinco made those 5 round aftermarket mags as well. They neutered the bayo lugs on a few models of the Norinco bubba SKS's. You will probably find printing on the serial side of the receiver indicating import and Norinco on it as well.
